So I decided that I wanted some cupholders in my truck and that sparked the whole dash rebuild... I decided to move my CB which was under the stereo somewhere else so I could put a bolt in cup holder under the stereo.. below is what the box looked like... I also determined that I was going to put the CB in the main dash pad... that turned out to be a little more work than anticipated... The top drawer of the unit I put in was a little cubby, and the lower part was the cup holder..

chim

Then my truck got jacked, and they stole the stereo and the cup holder was attached.. no big deal.. because the cup holder was a piece of junk.. so instead I got a better stereo.. got an Alpine now instead of the Panasonic, and now it runs off the Ipod.. so I used the factory cubby under the stereo for the Ipod holder.. just drilled a hole in the back to run the Ipod cable through.  You can see on the dash pictures where I marked and started cutting the dash for the CB...

Even though it sucked re-wiring the dash for the second time after it got jacked.. it is way better now.. I soldered everything, and zip tied it all nice and clean,,.. and now I have an alarm system! But I was pleased with the way the cb turned out..... I mounted an external speaker to make up for the cb being muffled... speaker turned out awesome... sits right above the rearview without blocking any sight, and sounds way better than the factory speaker on the unit itself... also installed an altimeter/ inclinometer that I bought off Ebay :)

"Later, I learned that even though I engage 4WD my hubs are not automatically locking? Something about manual locking hubs I think. What's manual mean? I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike

That looks awesome, I would definitely like to see how you mounted it (behind the scenes type deal).

Thanks for the compliments guys...  :yesnod:

See the pic.. I only had to do some very minor trimming.... the fit of the CB is so tight that you really dont need anything to hold it in there, but I used the 3M VHT double sided tape because that stuff is very strong.. when I had it mounted under the stereo all I used was that tape.. I had it taped to underside of stereo and it was hard to pry it loose once the tape was set.. this CB is the Cobra 19 DX IV, and if it was any bigger it probably wouldnt have fit...

Thats sweet! Good job! :clap2: I see one problem tho... What are you going to do when you need to put it in 4WD without the diagram sticker to show you how to shift? :phone:

The cup holder got stolen with the first stereo.. which was ok..  because it was a piece of junk......

How did you get your CB to sit so flush with your dash??? And how did you get the edges to roll over like that, it looks freaking sweet!!!

There was enough room behind/ under the dash to fit the Cobra Cb that I used... and I just pushed the CB back to a good spot where I liked the fit best.. The as far as the hole... I just cut the hole small in the front and large in the back so when I pushed the CB in from the front, it curled the over hanging dash pad with it.... You just have to cut as little as possible at first and then gradually cut it bigger till you get the desired fit... never cut too much first... there is no going back!
