versus how long to wheel back out? 5 hours?
At LEAST and barring anyone breaking down in front of you and blocking the trail for who knows how long.

go up 5 to 99 to 50 then turn off on ice house road then take loon lake road and your there!!! simple and you'll see everyone else there parking and you could just join in.  you can either wheel all the way back through the trail to get to your tow rig or all the way around through south lake tahoe which would be like 2 hours on the road back the the tow rig.

Thanks Pat. I'm really looking forward to this. Will everybody be there Thursday night? Gatekeeper Friday Morning?

Cool. Looks like we could have four vehicles in the caravan. You, me, RuggedJeep, and hopefully my buddy Hootman.
We'll try to co-ordinate it so we can pick you up along the freeway. Will you be towing?
Nope. Driving the 4 Runner

I have reservations at Robbs Resort on Thursday night. My plan is run to Buck on Friday and then onto the Springs Saturday. Who else is doing this same route?

From the Springs it would be anywhere from 5 hours if you hall ass to all day depending on traffic.  Last year two years there wasn't that much traffic going back through the trail most people went out the tahoe side.  but there are a few of us with not so street legal trucks.  i just sent mine in today.

Mike, I mailed mine today (the 20th), so you probably won't get it for a couple days. Keep an eye out for it.

One more question....will anyone be listening to the CB radio to listen for joining members as they get closer to the campsite?  If so, what channel will be monitored to make contact and locating easier for everyone?

Your gonna have to go like hell all day on Saturday if your planning on making it to Rubicon Springs by Saturday night. It was my first trip through the last time I was up there and with well equipped rigs and  few break downs it took us about 8 hours each day to get from Loon Lake to the Springs. There will be a group at Buck Island Friday night. If you want to run at night you could probably make it there by Sat morning when we pull out. If your getting up there super late you might be better off going in on the Tahoe side and going down Cadillac Hill right to the Springs.

Dual cases are not an absolute must as long as you are a good driver and don't burn up your clutch or beat the crap out of your rig going to fast over stuff.

leaving friday afternoon around 6:30-7:00, from san luis obispo.  if anyone near by would like to meet up, it would be great.  always makes it easier to drive at night when your with a group(especially if you all have cb's).  is buck island before or after loon lake? i would really like to stay with the group, even if it means driving through the night.  let me know.
