I pulled the valve cover off today, i think  it may be out of timing, but im not sure. I am going to do a compression test as well. Its not the MAFS because, when its on aux. the fuel pump is on, i can hear it, then when i pull the MAFS out the pump shuts off. When it runs and i rev it, alot of corbon monoxide comes out of the exhaust, it may be running rich. Here are some pics. Also a vid of it idleing(horrible). Oh and when i rev it it is really ruff, the engine shakes till i get to like 3000 rpms then it smooths out.

that dont look much like paste..

looks kinda muddy???  maybe that's the problem???

im really not sure though!

It looks like you have water in your oil. When water and oil mix, it makes a milky paste (mud) substance.... Don't get me wrong, it could be something else, but from what i see it looks like water in the oil.....

Time to replace your headgasket. :yesnod:

Check your oil filter, probably looks like this:

Did you check your cap and rotor? when my #1 injector went out it idled ruff until it hit 3000 rpms. maybe when you sucked all that muddy water in to you engine it clogged an injector?

Hay Mini you running yohoo in that motor  :rofl2:

i JUST CHANGED THE OIL, SO MY OIL FILTER IS GONE. THAT IS THE SUBSTANCES THAT ARE LLEFT OVER. SO COULD IT BE MY HEAD GASKET? I PUT IN INJECTOR CLEANER AND IT RUNS BETTER, BUT STILL NOT THE BEST.

lets hope it is not your head gasket!

i've always wondered how well that injector cleaner really works.. im sure it helps  but do they actually clean the injectors thoroughly? i wazs going to try it but i didn't think it'd do much??

hay Mark is your rad fluid low? if its your head gasket you rad fluid will be low, when you drained your oil did it look like more than 5qt?

thats supposed to be pointed UP  not down

also  you need to  do a compression test,  it will show  if  you have a bad headgasket  or  if  you got water in the crankcase when you were in the waterhole

the 4Runner in the second one will have an ifs axle in it and  if the whole rig is that cheap damn, lol.  you can give Jim the Yodaman a ring too if ya haven't yet 303-506-5119 he has a good selection of parts and is very reasonably priced.  keep an eye on the co4x4 too, havent seen one there since mine :D but they come and go on there too!  good luck too with whatever you find wrong in the engine :(

Thanks Vic. I got a compression test kit from work, so i will do a wet and dry compression test sunday. I will look into the second one then, i havnt called the yodaman, maybe i will.

I did a compression test today, i did it from the front to the back of the cylinders, 1st. Cy. 145, 2nd 145, 3rd 145, and 4th is at 120 psi? So the cylinder closest to the fire wall is at 120 psi. Whats wrong?

Did you do a wet and dry test? If you did a wet test and it didn't come up, you could have possibly bent a valve when it sucked water. Have you checked your TPS? Maybe try unplugging it and see if there is any change with the idle and stalling. Also, if you haven't done so already, you may want to check the front diff to make sure it's not full of water. Hope you get it figured out and it's not something major.

Rainer

I di the dry test. I dont know if i have an oil gun to put some oil in the cylinders yet, i need to ask my dad. I will probubly do a wet test tonight. Thanks 54runr, i will probubly drain my front diff as well. So on the wet test if i get the same results, what is wrong?

You only need about a tspoon of oil in there. Use a funnel, spoon, oil cap or something if you don't have an oil can. If it's rings or cylinder wear, the oil should help seal the cylinder and bring the numbers up. If it doesn't increase then you've got a leak somewhere. It could possibly be a bad valve seat, head gasket or bent valve. A bleed down test is really the best, but requires additional gauges. On a bleed down you fill the cylinder with air(with both valves closed) and then monitor the gauge to see if the pressure drops. It's also nice because if it's a bad valve you'll hear the air leaking into the intake or exhaust or with a head gasket you'll get air bubbles in the radiator or you can here a hissing coming from the crankcase. As for the other problem, one other thing you may want to check is the injector plugs. I had one come loose on me once and it was acting similar to what yours is. Hope you get it figured out, I know what a headache it can be chasing down these little gremlins.

Rainer

Yeah i may do a leak down test as well. I will do a wet check later today. I cant really get to my injector plugs there under my intake manifold. Thanks for the help 85runr.

Well i did the wet check on the low cylinder and it went from 120 psi to 145 like the rest, so its
my rings or i have cylinder wear right? How do i fix it?

Right after writing the above post i went back out and the guage read 125, so i let out the pressure and cranked again and now it wont go above 125?

HEY RAINER I LIVE PRETTY CLOSE TO YOU TOO, I LIVE ON 88TH AND COLORADO BLVD. YOUR TRUCK IS LOOKING PRETTY SWEET KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

weirdtimes_7

It can be multiple things, you can have a blown head gasket, or a bent (or bernt [sp]) valve. I cannot see you getting a bent valve off of sucking in water, thats very unlikely. My first guess is to try your wet test and see what is comes up with, but my first thought's would be to get ahead and replace that head gasket....
