Wedding - First Dance music?
« on: Oct 09, 2006, 07:57:32 PM »
So we're in the "finalization" stages of planning our wedding but one of the hardest things for us to choose right now is the song we'll be dancing to for our first dance together.

Maybe it'll help to get an outsiders opinion, I dont listen to alot of slower dance songs so i'm kinda in the dark here.

Help us out!!  post up some good songs

TIA

here is one i listened to last week, live in concert, i had my girl in my arms the whole time, i think its a really good song

You and I must make a pact
We must bring salvation back
Where there is love
I'll be there
I'll reach out my hand to you
I'll have faith in all you do Just call my name
And I'll be there

I'll be there to comfort you
Build my world of dreams around you
I'm so glad that I found you
I'll be there with a love that's strong
I'll be your strength I'll keep holding on

Let me fill your heart with joy and laughter
Togetherness is all I'm after
Whenever you need me I'll be there
I'll be there to protect you
With an unselfish love
I'll respect you Just call my name
And I'll be there

I'll be there to comfort you
Build my world of dreams around you
I'm so glad that I found you
I'll be there with a love that's strong
I'll be your strength
I'll keep holding on

If you should ever find someone new
I know she'd better be good to you
'Cause if she doesn't I'll be there

I'll be there
I'll be there Just call my name
I'll be there I'll be there
I'll be there Whenever you need me
I'll be there

my gf doenst know it yet, but i want that song at our wedding.....

mariah carey - i'll be there

Etta James! I like that song a lot.
EC Wonderful Tonight...I played that way too much. It almost has a Stairway to Heaven status.

If you like country, try some Collin Raye. Hell of a singer and a lot of good songs. Maybe something like "Not That Different".

Vince Gill "Whenever You Come Around"

Louis Armstrong..."What a Wonderful World".

But then I'm a big ol' mush!

Are you old enough to know that's a Micheal Jackson song?

Yeah, but those aren't twangy songs. I completely missed that whole sentence.

I'll Be There? Jackson 5 :puke4:

It Had to be You! (Jazz tune done by various artists)

It had to be you
It had to be you
I wandered around and finally found
The somebody who
could make me be true
Could make me be blue
or even be glad Just to be sad
thinking of you

Some others I've seen.
might never be mean
Might never be cross
or try to be boss
But they wouldn't do
For nobody else gave me a thrill
With all your faults I love you still
It had to be you, wonderful you
It had to be you

INSTRUMENTAL BREAK

Some others I've seen.
might never be mean
Might never be cross
or try to be boss
But they wouldn't do
For nobody else gave me a thrill
With all your faults I love you still
It had to be you, wonderful you
It had to be you

OK - here you go... start perusing.. http://www.ourweddingsongs.com/

Or better yet...

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2004-26,GGLD:en&q=Wedding+songs

How about the old standby Blood, Sweat and Tears - You've made me so very happy - although that might be a bit bouncy for a slow song.

I've lost at love before
got mad and closed the door
but you said try, just once more

I chose you for the one
now I'm havin' so much fun
you treated me so kind
I'm about to lose my mind

You made me so very happy
I'm so glad you
came into my life

The others were untrue
but when it came to lovin' you
I'd spend my whole life with you
'cause you came and you took control
you touched my very soul
you always showed me that
lovin' you is where it's at
You made me so very happy
I'm so glad you
came into my life

I love you so much it seems
You're even in my dreams
I can hear you
yeah I can hear you calling me
I'm so in love with you
all I ever want to do is
thank you baby
thank you baby

You made me so very happy
you made me so very happy baby
I'm so glad you came
into my life

Ev'ry day of my life
I wanna thank you
You made me so very happy
Oh, I wanna spend my life with you
thank you baby
thank you baby

Led Zeppelin - Thank You

If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me.

Kind of woman, I give you my all; Kind of woman, nothing more.

Little drops of rain whisper of the pain, tears of love lost in the days gone by.
My love is strong, with you there is no wrong,
together we shall go until we die. My, my, my, my
inspiration is what you are to me, inspiration, look... see.

And so today, my world it smiles, your hand in mine, we walk the miles,
And thanks to you it will be done, for you to me are the only one.
Happiness, no more be sad, happiness....I'm glad.
If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you
Mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me.

If you wont to know any more let me know i have a hole list of first dance songs me and my soon to be better half have it narrowed down to these two.   :beerchug:

The keeper of the stars, by Tracy Byrd

It was no accident me finding you
Someone had a hand in it
Long before we ever knew
Now I just can't believe you're in my life
Heaven's smilin' down on me
As I look at you tonight

CHORUS:
I tip my hat to the keeper of the stars
He sure knew what he was doin'
When he joined these two hearts
I hold everything
When I hold you in my arms
I've got all I'll ever need
Thanks to the keeper of the stars

Soft moonlight on your face oh how you shine
It takes my breath away
Just to look into your eyes
I know I don't deserve a treasure like you
There really are no words
To show my gratitude

REPEAT CHORUS

It was no accident me finding you
Someone had a hand in it
Long before we ever knew

or My Best Friend, By Tim McGraw

 never had no one
I could count on
Ive been let down so many times
I was tired of hurtin
So tired of searchin
til you walked into my life
It was a feelin
Id never known
And for the first time
I didnt feel alone

Youre more than a lover
There could never be another
To make me feel the way you do
Oh we just get closer
I fall in love all over
Everytime I look at you
I dont know where Id be
Without you here with me
Life with you makes perfect sense
Youre my best friend
Youre my best friend, oh yeah

You stand by me
And you believe in me
Like nobody ever has
When my world goes crazy
Youre right there to save me
You make me see how much I have
And I still tremble
When we touch
And oh the look in your eyes
When we make love

Youre more than a lover
There could never be another
To make me feel the way you do
Oh we just get closer
I fall in love all over
Everytime I look at you
And I dont know where Id be
Without you here with me
Life with you makes perfect sense
Youre my best friend
Youre my best friend

Youre more than a lover
There could never be another
To make me feel the way you do
Oh we just get closer
I fall in love all over
Everytime I look at you
And I dont know where Id be
Without you here with me
Life with you makes perfect sense
Youre my best friend
Youre my best friend (my best friend)
Youre my best friend (my best friend)

Depeche Mode  -   Somebody

This was our first dance song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nqrwajpCMY

I want somebody to share
Share the rest of my life
Share my innermost thoughts
Know my intimate details
Someone wholl stand by my side
And give me support
And in return
Shell get my support
She will listen to me
When I want to speak
About the world we live in
And life in general
Though my views may be wrong
They may even be perverted
Shell hear me out
And wont easily be converted
To my way of thinking
In fact shell often disagree
But at the end of it all
She will understand me
Aaaahhhhh....

I want somebody who cares
For me passionately
With every thought and
With every breath
Someone wholl help me see things
In a different light
All the things I detest
I will almost like
I dont want to be tied
To anyones strings
Im carefully trying to steer clear of
Those things
But when Im asleep
I want somebody
Who will put their arms around me
And kiss me tenderly
Though things like this
Make me sick
In a case like this
Ill get away with it
Aaaahhhhh....
OFRD_GRL – as much as i appreciate strip clubs, i could never date a chic. they are all flopin crazy.

If you wont to know any more let me know i have a hole list of first dance songs me and my soon to be better half have it narrowed down to these two.   :beerchug:

The keeper of the stars, by Tracy Byrd

It was no accident me finding you
Someone had a hand in it
Long before we ever knew
Now I just can't believe you're in my life
Heaven's smilin' down on me
As I look at you tonight

CHORUS:
I tip my hat to the keeper of the stars
He sure knew what he was doin'
When he joined these two hearts
I hold everything
When I hold you in my arms
I've got all I'll ever need
Thanks to the keeper of the stars

Soft moonlight on your face oh how you shine
It takes my breath away
Just to look into your eyes
I know I don't deserve a treasure like you
There really are no words
To show my gratitude

REPEAT CHORUS

It was no accident me finding you
Someone had a hand in it
Long before we ever knew

or My Best Friend, By Tim McGraw

 never had no one
I could count on
Ive been let down so many times
I was tired of hurtin
So tired of searchin
til you walked into my life
It was a feelin
Id never known
And for the first time
I didnt feel alone

Youre more than a lover
There could never be another
To make me feel the way you do
Oh we just get closer
I fall in love all over
Everytime I look at you
I dont know where Id be
Without you here with me
Life with you makes perfect sense
Youre my best friend
Youre my best friend, oh yeah

You stand by me
And you believe in me
Like nobody ever has
When my world goes crazy
Youre right there to save me
You make me see how much I have
And I still tremble
When we touch
And oh the look in your eyes
When we make love

Youre more than a lover
There could never be another
To make me feel the way you do
Oh we just get closer
I fall in love all over
Everytime I look at you
And I dont know where Id be
Without you here with me
Life with you makes perfect sense
Youre my best friend
Youre my best friend

Youre more than a lover
There could never be another
To make me feel the way you do
Oh we just get closer
I fall in love all over
Everytime I look at you
And I dont know where Id be
Without you here with me
Life with you makes perfect sense
Youre my best friend
Youre my best friend (my best friend)
Youre my best friend (my best friend)
