so far awesome.  I've hammered it quite a bit and haven't worried about it.  I already tweaked a front link coming down on a log but nothing to be worried about.  We got the engine running smoother finally and I am going to take my struts down and have more air put in them hopefuly in the next couple of weeks.  I have to get this thing ready for Moab in 3 weeks and I'm hoping to have it mostly skinned and get a windshield on it so that we can do some snow wheeling in Colorado on the same trip

boggerunner

hat part of co are u gonna be in?

gotrocks

the brighton boulder area.  Anyone wanna go wheeling?

boggerunner

im on the other side of the state, but close to moab, only 1.5 hrs away

gotrocks

well we're wanting to go to Moab on the way there or way home so I'll let you know.  I want to find someone to wheel with in Moab so that we aren't alone

boggerunner

with the buggy or the 4runner?
my rock crawler is in pieces, but my 4runner can wheel some of the easier trails like hells revenge and moab rim, but no pritchett canyon or helldorado

gotrocks

my buggy will be there.  We just took it up tonight in the snow and had a blast

boggerunner

what trails in moab are u wanting to run?  there wont be any snow in moab, but mabey a littla south in the moutains

gotrocks

oh I don't want there to be snow in Moab.  We will go snowwheeling in Colorado on the Eastern Slopes where my fiancee's parents live.  I want to go to either Pritchet Canyon or Area BFE.  I have heard its a blast to wheel at.  Anyone else gonna be around or live close enough by that might be up for some wheeling next weekend?

boggerunner

well i cant run either trail with my 4runner, so im out

gotrocks

ya know the last guy I ran pritchet with did it with (blackdiamond) only has 33's and we did the whole trail unassisted

boggerunner

i could run it and make it, but its not setup for rocks, its my daily driver, and im tryin to use it for a down payment on a new truck, and body damage would finish off that plan

Two broken teeth on a D60 with Yukon gears while snow wheeling on 40 inch tractionless tires.  It looked like the gear was bad from the factory.

As a side note, gotrocks is absolutely correct when he says that Swamper Bogger are NO GOOD in the snow.  I think my 33 inch BFGs were easier to control than his 40 inch Boggers.  I was simply amazed at how poor his tractions was considering the rig and tire combo.  I had more lateral stability with lockers front and rear than gotrocks did with his rear differential open.

thats cool.  think we are scrapping the idea of moab not anyway.  As you can see from the damage that blackdiamond posted I broke a ring gear this weekend with tractionless tires in the snow.  What that tells me is that it was a bad casted ring gear.  It looks like we will be just traveling directly to Denver.  I will deffinatly let you know the next time we're down in your area I am always looking for people to wheel with.

boggerunner

sorry to hear about the damage, we also have plenty of good trails here in grand junction if your ever this way again

gotrocks

yeah my fiancee lived there for 4 years  and her dad knows quite a few places to wheel.  It makes our Moab trips convenient because her grandparents live in Cortez.

update time:

I got the rear axle all put back together and it seems to be working very good.  But after breaking that well I toasted my brand new tranny a couple weeks back.  I still am stratching my head about that one.  So I ended up buying a new Hughs TH350.  Its rated for 500 HP and should take the abuse I throw at it.  After getting all that in we went down to Tillamook State forest and  stayed at Browns camp.  We had an awesome time and I FINALLY didnt' break something.  Our first day out I had my first roll.  Gotrocksgirl was with me when we went over and after the initial shock of the roll/flip she was fine and said it was fun and she'd do it again.  I was getting a little impatient because I couldnt' make it up this near vertical wall so I just hammered it.  It was caught on video and I'll post that as soon as I get the video but here's a picture from the top that was caught.  You can't tell very well from this angle but my back tires are just coming off the wall thats over 4' tall.  It only put a small little dent in the roof and a couple little scratches on the paint.  Thankfully I didn't have my body on yet other wise all that work would've been waisted.

Gittinit

That is a cool pic.  I wish my friends were more into pics, they might had cought my front tires off the ground when I broke my spider gears a couple months ago.

well we just got back from some wheeling up at Evens Creek.  I got some serious carnage now on this trip.  I broke a wheel.  We rolled 2 times in less than 5 min.  Both again were caught on video.  Unfortunatly the guy that took the video this time wasn't in our group but he promised to email me the video.  It was awesome because we did a barrel roll all the way around then back on the tires and drove away then in the next one the front came over and we did a complete flip and thats when teh wheel broke.  I do have pictures though of the broken wheel.  I will post pictures in a few min.

well I am still waiting to receive the video.  Trust me I want the videos a lot more than you guys do.  I only saw them on the little camcorder screen and I want to see them on a big screen.

gotrocks

here's a couple pictures of the wheel and the aftermath of our roll.

gotrocks

Here's a piece of the wheel.  It just demolished the wheel.

DAMN! What materiel is that wheel made of? Got to be something soft. Pretty impressive when you can rip the wheels right off your rig. It didnt bend the axle any?
