The 1.9TD are good motors. All sorts of aftermarket performance parts for them. You can make a lot of torque really easily. Upwards of 300 ft/lbs and 40MPG...Where are you from? If you end up not wanting it I will take it off your hands.

i'm in southern nevada, about an hour north of vegas. you're gonna have to get on the list though haha. if i don't want it, my dad says it's perfect for his jeep, if he don't want it, then i'm sure my brother will find a use for it, and if he don't, well i'll let you know.

What year is it coming out of. i know the newer ones. I believe 1999.5 and up have an immobilizer on them. So you have to use the instrument cluster, or by a program to disable the immobilizer

it's not near that new. this is part of my problem, i have no idea what year it is, or what it came out of. but i'm thinkin' it's an 80's or so...

it was actually in a toyota before i got it, so i have the tranny adapter, and just about everything i should need for the swap. somebody in utah sold the truck to my brother in law's brother, and then my BIL sold the motor to me.

Well if it is a 1.9TD then it came in a volkswagen that was a MKII which is between the years 1985-1992. If it is a TDI then it came in the newer models. 1993 and up

You can install a mechanical Injector pump in the TDI motor and bypass all that wiring issues (single wire to run it) Or you can get a Hybrid pump that us a TDI/TD pump meshed together. Im still reading up on these things but as far as I can tell they make the best Engine swap out there in my opinion. I true no brainer.....good luck!

since i have no progress to report i'll just repeat my plans. at least make it look like i've got somethin' done...

my brother is givin' me a sweet deal on a couple gauges and two seats with 5 point harnesses, so first thing we'll do (hopefully) is gut the interior, add cage, make dash, install new gauges/stereo/what have you, and then concentrate on the motor swap.

as far as the motor swap goes, hopefully all i need to get is an e-fan, maybe a fuel cell, and... well hopefully that's pretty much it.

as far as supsension goes, in the next few days i think i'll add another leaf or two to the front packs. they tend to work a lot more than the rear, so my theory is if they're a little stiffer the back'll have to work more...  :dunno:

dude..you gotta go through with the motor swap...and keep us all posted.  25 to 30 mpg, more overall torque...I have the feeling I wont be putting in another 22r when my motor goes...that is, if yours goes smoothly.  The 1.9 swap sounds killer.

i'm tryin' to. the problem is i didn't work for about two weeks, and even now that i am workin' i ain't gettin' much money.

i just gotta get an electric fan, some radiator hose, adapt my power steering lines to the stock pump, and... that's hopefully it.

it should go fairly smoothly... it was already in a toyota before i got it.

kinda hard to see, but it's a couple inches from the bellhousing and already behind the motor mount

this motor is dang hear half the size of the 22R. couldn't tell you exactly how much it weighed, but definately less than 22R.

straight from the manual...

Displacement: 1.9L (1896 cc)
Bore Diameter: 79.5mm (3.19 in.)
Stroke: 95.5mm (3.40in)
Compression Ratio: 22.5:1
Horsepower: 75 @ 4,200 rpm
Torque: 107 ft.lb @ 2,500 rpm

i was told it came from a '93 - '95 Golf or Jetta.

my brother-in-law called me up about a month ago and said his brother had a little 4 cylinder diesel if i wanted it. said he wanted $400 for it and i said hell yeah. if i hadn't of lucked out like that i probably would have just put in a 22RE. but i think i'll be happier with this.

thanks for the appreciation man.

thats sick man. can't wait to see it running. asfar as wiring that thing is...? are you just modding your old harness? did you have a bell housing made to mate it to your trans?

as far as wiring goes, i should only have to wire up the glow plug relay, which is about half a dozen wires. i'll probably just strip the old harness down to the lights/turn signals, and put in all mechanical gauges.

you can buy adapters for these at www.acmeadapters.com tough they're mostly for sammis. this one came with the adapter.

"Later, I learned that even though I engage 4WD my hubs are not automatically locking? Something about manual locking hubs I think. What's manual mean? I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike
