Nick's 1981 Toy Build-up
« on: Aug 07, 2006, 10:50:43 PM »
I'm startin' a new build on my '81.  I rolled it in '04 and did a ton of body work.  built it to the "standard" toyota that's so common these days.  stock duals, aussie front, spool rear, 5.29's, square tube front shaft, cv rear, 36" tsls, tube-bed, led's, custom bumper, sliders, corbeau seats, lc header, 2.25" exhaust, hi-flow cat to flowmaster, marlin skid-plate, marlin clutch, swapped in l-52 from l-45, rears/waggys up front, s-10's out back, hy steer, sky gusset, knuckle rebuild, soon to have ifs rear, 1.5" spacers in front, soon to have 30 splines, pine t/g car decking for flat bed, that just about sums it up.  took it wheelin for the first time on the 4th....some pics

yeah, no kidding.  i've been in school and working.  i had to take summer quarter which sucked but whatever.  im 2 quarters out from a AAS degree in welding fabrication.  i've also been doing a lot of fab work.  i'm doing some work to my dads 8' utility trailer, then we're starting the build of a 20' car hauler.  we've got 2 5,200# axles, 6x5.5 bolt pattern.  all the hangers, leaf springs, tongue.  all i need is steel, tailights and decking.  im rockin a set of stock 98 chevy silverado wheels on the trailer.  i'll try to get some pictures of that up when we start it as well.

i have been working on getting my wide rear end it in this past week.  i had stock s10 u bolts and plates working as a u bolt flip with my s10 springs but the wide rear end has larger axle tubes and the u bolts didnt fit around em so i had to order a u bolt flip kit.  also ordered a complete rear service kit and now working on getting that together along with new brake shoes and all.  im also picking up an un-cut 83 dash, stock door panels and miscellanous interior items that i am missing or broken.  i was so happy to actually get this thing out and wheel it but i am not stepping back and trying to turn it back into a nice truck.  im just working on getting rit of all the rattles and having an original clean interior.  so ill be throwing in a whole new dash, installing my cd player and speakers in the doors. replacing the weather stripping and building a center console.  i was in the mood to just build something that i can beat on and not care about rolling, but i have soo much money into this that i want to keep it nice.  i have rebuilt almost everything on the truck so it's almost like new, im just going to keep going with it.  ill get some pictures up soon, and i may be going wheelin this weekend so hopefully get some pictures then too.
