I finally got my new winch yesterday and spent most of the day today installing the winch and rebracing my bumper. Got her all hooked up and working good. I got a Warn XD9000 for 450$ with the winch line already on it Steal of a Deal if you ask me. winch was a REALLY tight fit in my bumper tighter than i thought it was going to be but it looks better now. :woohoo:

Thanks on the tube doors i like them as well, as for the the winch rope yeah it is synthetic rope we'll see how well it holds up, and i got it from my uncle who put a new Warn Powerplant on his jeep so he didn't need this one anymore so i offered my the money including the winch line and he said okay. I guess its not always what you know but who you know.

« Reply #184 on: Mar 21, 2007, 11:56:07 PM »
Update: I put my new spring packs on the front of my rig and realized that i needed to add new longer brakelines and longer shocks. Putting longer shocks on tomorrow as well as brake lines. I had to take two leafs out of the packs because they were way to big. Oh and i welded the front diff until i get the money to put an aussie in.

So i really screwed up this time. I wasn't really paying attention when i put my custom springs on an now after i have it all back together the rig doesnt steer to the right because the drag link hits on the u-bolt. So now i have a reason to take the time to put my 5in all pro's on and do the steering right. Im hoping my rig is only going to be down for a month or so but we'll see. The plan it to do hysteer with hydro assist, and new shocks and springs. I've got to upgrade front axles as well because i welded the front and don't want to blow any birfs. Im shooting for the 1st of may to have this thing back on the road. Ill post up pics as progress goes.

Oh ya and some 36 in iroks are in the near future.

Hey thanks!

I got the springs mounted today, got the front hangers tacked welded into place, i put a jack on the springs and compressed them until the truck came off of the jack stands, the shackle angle was about 18 degrees, is this to much? I was to lazy to take any pics but ill post some up later.

18deg from up and down or 18 away from the frame if its the first then its a little steep but taking into account that the springs need to settle they might be fine if there the second option then move your hanger forward ruffly an inch

Alright i need some help. I rotated the rear housing with the new springs so that my drive line angle was perfect. Can i do the same thing with the front housing, I heard that it will mess with the caster or something of that nature, What are the other ways to rotate the front end so that i dont have a nasty drive line angle?
Thanks

shims will only fix a bad leaf spring set up.example some one put extended shackles on a stock set up, or some one does a rear pack with out a drop hanger. both are examples of when the axle is bolted on to the leafs and the spring pearchs are no longer parrellel to the ground.

http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/rotated_housing/

here is the link that i read before i did mine i did my first one when i was 16 not to bad diffently scared me at first but after i finished it wasent realy that bad. i just installed on on my buddies 4runner with a all pro sas and single case and none clearenced drive shaft with no vib's and we cant get it to pull apart any more. the is only a good solotion if you are going keep single cases. other wise later down the road your axle is to rotaded for duals. but if a lifted daily driver i would highly recommend it.

I have a huge delema im going through right now. I was planning on running the 36/13/5 irok bias ply tires on my truck after i lifted it. However when i went to my local tire factory shop they said there selling out of the superswamper line of tires.  :rivers: so i had them search for the 36's and they didn't have any left. However they did have a couple sets of the 39.5 iroks for sale and said they would "give" them to me for 210$ a tire (the price for the 36's) i wasn't planning on running this big of a tire. Should i do it or go somewhere else and get the tires i wanted? Im so torn, ill have to buy r/p gears now a little sooner then i thought if i get the 39.5's  :willynilly: i don't know what to do.

Send them to me and I will send ya my 36s and some cash.

Thats a great deal on those tires and I think it is too good to pass up.
I would definately buy gears really soon though.

my really big concern with the 39.5's is the stopping power, Would the 1" bore master cylinder marlin sells help out enough for this.

Gitinit im going to get some 5.29's just this means sooner than i thought.

Some ifs calipers and fj rotors along with the 1" master should be sufficient.

im running factory brakes on mine with the rear lspv compleatly removed and i can lock the 39.5s up on wet pavement but if im hot rodding it down a steep down hill with lots of turns its not uncommon for my brakes to heat up enouph to boil the brake fluid and cause me to loose my brakes but thats only when im rallying it under normal sercumstances they work fine i dont even have vented rotors

Im thinking im just going to put vented rotors and ifs calipers on the front to help out I have all the stuff right now to do it so i might as well. It'll help out enough that it takes the worry factor out of stopping. Im still debating. I don't have to tell them to order the tires until next week so we'll see.
