dude have you even driven it to see if the breaks are working or not?  I just finished up my rear disks and the pedal is hella soft but the brakes are working like a charm

Shamb

yea of course,

Drove it for awhile today... brakes lock on the rear a little. After messing with them for awhile i've got a decent pedal.

Found a nice big crack on my front brace for the upper 3 link, welded it up today and changed all fluids.

Only things left to do are get gas and pack all my sh*t. I'll have it gas'd up tomorrow and i've got a few little misc things i'd like to try and get accomplished but i'm ready to hit the Con.

I'm gonna go price some exterior speakers tomorrow and try to get my CB working again.. it took a dive the last trip out for no apparent reason.. I hope I didn't fry it.

So the story line,

Got settled at the spillway around 6:30 Thurs Afternoon, chatted with Yotaboy79 and (I can't recall your screen name, with the 4runner on 17's)

Locktup and Casey105 showed up around dark 8 ish?   w/ the mixed drinks. Not to much going on so we just hung out for awhile drinking and waiting for more people to roll in.  Finally went to bed around.. hmm... 11 or 12?

Woke up next morning, Marlin was already hard at work fixing a spun wheel bearing. After that was finished he gave the trail info speech and shortly after we all headed out. The group scattered a bit twords the first couple miles.  I wheeled in with Dave from 4wd Toyota Owners Mag, stone4by (sp?)  Casey105, Locktup and OOPS!! was right behind us. Hit all the typical stuff other than the box, had 4wd Toyota Owners Mag snapping some great shots all day long. Took it easy through the trail.. not in any big hurry. Arrived at The Springs around 8 ish? .. set up camp.. cooked some food.. drank some beer.. and shot the sh*t for a bit. Found out that I had bent a heim joint pretty bad and cracked all the tubing that holds the upper 3-link in place   :_oops:

Saturday was just a kick back day, started up the morning w/ ice cold Corona and just kicking back enjoy the atmosphere. Found marlin around noon and asked if someone in camp had a welder I could use to get my stuff welded up. This guy is amazing!  he dropped everything he was doing and walked up to our camp to look at the damage, he hooked me up with Matt and the guy in the Blue Turbo Toy sorry I can't recall your name. Anyways.. Matt spent a good 3 hours welded and bracing my truck!  I could not believe the work he put into it, I was just expecting a big ol' blobber weld over mine and send me packing but he put some work into strengthening everything up. THANKFULLY!! (big thanks to locktup)  for having a left hand threaded heim joint that I could use on the way out. Once I saw some familiar faces come rolling in I made the rounds and say Hi to everyone I noticed. Good to put some faces to the screen names!  it was great meeting all of you.

After the raffle BigMike helped me get some rigs moved out of the way so I could get back on the trail with locktup, casey105, KYOTA and stone4by (Larry)  :D     THANK YOU BigMike for helping out!   After we got past the majority of the traffic we chatted with RokCrawlinToy for a few minutes and OOPS!! then bailed out around 9:00pm.. passed The Mammoths, Duffil and Wermz on the way out and basically said "Hi, Bye!"
We got to the Spill way around 2 am locktup, casey105, KYOTA and stone4by (Larry)  took off and we ended up staying the night on Ice House Road because I was burnt out from the ride out. Woke up around 7:30 am and immediatly hit the road back home. Got here around 10:30 after dropping off all our stuff and unpacking everything.

Now i'm just counting the days until the next run!

BIG THANKS to Marlin and Crew for holding such an awesome event each year, without all of you guys this wouldn't be possible.

Finally... phew... here's the link to some of the pictures my wife took.

The links are getting sleeved to around 2 1/4" and I've already looked on AA-Fab's site at those links that Casey's got.. H U G E

I'm gonna e-mail Adam Ant and see what kinda pricing I can get for some heims and inserts.

Fordh8r it was great meeting you as well!  It's not a trip unless I break something.. haha.. it happens.. ALOT.. no worries though. As long as it makes it out in one piece I suppose. So when are we gonna see you in a toyota cruising to The Springs?

Alright, so the research has already begun. For those of you who have crossed this bridge (KYOTA, Hyena, Team Ramrod, locktup...)  To name a few..

What do you guys think about these prices and materials?   I'm going to do some more price searching tomorrow but Poly's web-site is down and AA-Fab's doesn't give any pricing yet. These prices are pulled from Ballstic Fab

Heim Joints,

Either these @ $65.99 a piece
http://ballisticfabrication.3dcartstores.com/HM-16-1-10-CrMo-rod-end-w-stainless-steel-liner_p_84-1426.html

Or could I get away with something like this @ $28.99
http://ballisticfabrication.3dcartstores.com/XM-1214-78-w-34-ballCrMo-rod-end-w-kevlar-liner-_p_84-1423.html

As far as tubing I was looking at atleast 2" if not 2 1/4"
There's a local steel yard in the area that i'm going to price tomorrow but here's some base pricing from Ballistic on 2 and 2.25" DOM

http://ballisticfabrication.3dcartstores.com/15-ID--20-OD-250-wall-DOM_p_18-1223.html

http://ballisticfabrication.3dcartstores.com/15-ID--225-OD-375-wall-DOM_p_18-1224.html

These both have 1.5" inner diameter so it SHOULD slip right over the links right now.... or I might just can those links all together to accomidate for the bigger heim joints because i'd have to drill out the existing anyways to get the bigger sleeve and heim in correct?

rough figures for heims
at $65.99 a piece i'm looking at around $264 for (4x)  this would cover the mounts at the frame, I plan on leaving the it the way it is @ the axle for now.

at $28.99 a piece i'm looking at around $116 for (4x)

DOM 2.25" is going to be around $445
DOM 2" is going to be around $258

Whatcha think?

Yeah, right at the bottom, he was on my truck as soon as I hit flat ground! I didn't want to slow them down so i just kept rollin on.

How is Kyle? I never heard anything after that?
