Poor stupid dog.  The past couple of days Rufus, our Rottweiler, hadn't been eating and didn't seem quite right.  We were keeping an eye on him since it isn't uncommon for him to see off every know and then.  Last night I came home and Rufus just looked sick.  I cooked some rice and mixed it with his favorite wet food and he wasn't interested at all.  I went out later and found him just laying in the back yard looking at me.  I convinced him to come in the house and he just laid on the floor with his head in my lap.  I called my wife and told her that we needed to find a vet.  We suspected a bowel blockage since he has a habit of eating rocks.  Keep in mind that it was Friday the 13th and he weighed in a 66.6 kg.  The x-ray showed a rock that was 8 cm x 6 cm.  As you can imagine the cost estimates were scary.  They opted to give him large doses of IV fluids for 6 hours to see if getting him hydrated would help things along, thankfully they did and he dropped to rock like turd this morning.  The best part was he did his business before they took another round of x-rays so I'm hoping that the bill will be under $400.  The surgery estimate was $3,500 to over $5,000 depending on how it went.  Normally, I wouldn't consider spending that amount of money on a dog, and initially we were not planning to, but on the way home I was thinking that I couldn't be the one to put my wife's dog down over something stupid like eating a rock.  Ironically, we both saw the rock in the back yard the past few days and I had even tossed it off of the deck, but for some stupid reason didn't throw it over the fence...lesson learned.  We were hopeful since the rock was smooth.

The bottom line is that I feel very blessed that we didn't have to deal with anything more major.  Big dogs can eat big rocks I guess.

Any guy who takes his woman wheeling enjoys her. A woman who is owned is left at home to cook, clean, and keep beer cold. So if this offends you you should stop looking and go have some tacos.    :rofl2: And a beer. If your old enough.   :beerchug:
