Did your stock rollbar get removed as part of the fender trimming?  :dunno:

Yeah, I cut out the sheetmetal where the rollbar bolts to the floor.  Full cage will be in the works.

Oh yeah, they work out great.  I'd still like to run them at a lower PSI but am afraid to pop a bead with no spare and no on-board air yet.  I need to save some $$$ for some Stauns, that would take care of that problem :)

That's one of the trails I was suggesting to you while you were out in CO.  Your buggy would be a blast to drive through BV Carnage!

It looks like a awesome trail.  I don't know now if my buggy will be ready.  I'm trying to get a 4Runner ready to bring down for my brother-in-law.  If I have the time I'm gong to get the buggy going but I have to get the runner going first.  Oh and now we're coming probably the 7-14

Is "BV Carnage" the same as "Carnage Canyon?"  If so, I heard it will be closed very soon.  A friend of mine went with some guy at Off Road Solutions last weekend.

2 different trails.  Technically, BV Carnage is called Carnage Canyon.  I've always called the trail they are closed outside of Boulder "Boulder Carnage" and the one near Buena Vista "BV Carnage".  Both trails get called "Carnage", "Carnage Canyon".

BV Carnage is rated at the 3rd toughest trail in the state (tied with Patriot in Penrose).  Boulder Carnage doesn't even make the top 10.  Boulder Carnage is a good trail but with it being soooooooooooo close to Boulder / Denver, it sees a ton of usage.  With that usage comes stupidity and trail damage.  I hate to see trails close but I'm not too concerned with Boulder Carnage closing.  The only bad thing is all the stupid people will now find other trails to go and destroy.

boulder carnage is closing??  Crap thats what I was going to run when I was there.  I love that trail.  Its not to far away from the in-laws and it has a good variety of lines to choose from.

It will close September 17th, 2008.  They have been trying to close Boulder Carnage for years now.  They are planning on building an OHV area that should have some big rocks to play on.  It won't be done for a couple of years though.

well I'll make sure and go run it before its closes then.  I hope the ORV park doesn't take to long. I don't want to have to drive for hours to go wheeling.  Maybe I'll just have to come down your way and find a few wheeling spots near Colorado Springs

The OHV park isn't slated to be open until October.  Some of the toughest wheeling in the state is 45 minutes south of Colorado Springs (Penrose CO - Independence trail system).  CO Springs doesn't have much in terms of wheeling.  You'd be better of in the Buena Vista area (2.5 hours from Denver) or in Penrose (2 hours from Denver)

nice! that should work a little bit better than re-bending your old one after each trip.

Ramrod

that will work better than the garbage TG tre's, they usually only last about 2 trips if your lucky but those heims will last a while

Yeah, it's for a tie rod with 2 spare heim joints for the tool box.  I was tired of messing around with the TRE's and both of them were worn after 2 seasons of wheeling.  The cost of having spare FJ80 TRE's was $60.  The cost of spare heim joints is $17.  Plus they are easier to remove from the tie rod (just unbolt and remove) compared to a tapered TRE (pickle fork, hammer, and torn boots).

Got to work on it for a couple of hours today.  I removed the steering arms and took them to my grandfather's machine shop to bore out the tapered tie rod holes to 3/4".  Used the Bridgeport (Vertical milling machine).  I also lost the drain plug for the oil pan

Thanks!  The big tires make it a blast to try the tough lines   I'm at 28" under the door at the frame with about 15 psi in the tires.  When I air down to trail pressure (4-5), it's down to 27".  It's tall but not overwheling tall.  I'm working on lowering it an inch or 2.
