 :welcome:  to the board.

'85 was a good year...not that I'm biased or anything.  Sounds like you've got some serious upgrades in the works so keep us posted.
If it never breaks, people can only speculate how much it was overbuilt.

Matty

i figured since im a noob id give ya a run through the truck
sorry bout the darkness they get light this is just when we were restorin it and puttin the suspension on her

Matty

continued these pictures are the rockers being cut out, and then it comes to the truck being just finished, and my favorite thing is the shifter which is a joystick out of a crashed k-max helicopter gift from a friend

DAAAAAAAMN, you weren't kiddin about that rust, huh?
For that front frame, there is this crap at home depot called hammertone paint.  Comes in black and grey and a couple other colors.  Any case, it is textured and the additive for the texture is a gluey substanse.  It bonds to everything, you can paint it right over rust.  Might want to grab a couple cans, it goes a long way, and hit as much of that fram as you can, at least stop the damage from getting any worse.  I'd be scared to grind all that off, might not be any truck left when you got done!
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

all the rust is gone except for the rust that is on my floorboards, the truck has been restored, i redid the frame, found all the weak spots and welded plates in all over it, and coated the :pokinit: out of it, its solid as hell now, and in those pics was only surface rust and body rust the major stuff is taken care of, the floorboards is the last place that i have found anything, but i wanted to know if there was replacement floor panels

CTENG in KS

Is it just the floor, or is the cancer into the structural part of the body mount?

Matty

the body mount on the actually frame is rock solid, the sheet metal on the floor in the cab that comes down and bolts to that is rotted out

sorry i would take pics but my camera took a bad spill and doesnt seem to want to work anymore

CTENG in KS

Yeah, I would stay away from the glass on that...I suppose the question is, are you comfortable welding sheet metal?  Probably a lot cheaper to get some 16-18G sheet metal and make the floors nice and beefy where they bolt to the mount.

Matty

alrighty then sounds good to me

my buddy had this idea because i was gonna cut some of the toe board out and the body mount area

that after cuttin the toe board part out to weld in angle iron around the perimeter of the hole, and then drill the lips that hang out on the angle iron and bolt like 1/4in maybe thicker plexy glass there so that you could see down at the tires, and it would take my rust problem out in the mean time

the cab getting lined

CTENG in KS

Everbody is lining the cabs these days...what is carpet passe?

I might do it, except that the runner has a lot of space to cover, and I have other devilishly clever plans for my "camper!"

Muuaaahahahahahha....muuaahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha :hammer:

bed liner is alot easier to clean than carpet. seals really good against water and all the offroad dirt u'll pick up. alot better than regular paint does
