i had like 567 posts this morning, now i have 356 or some thing, what the hell happened?

Someone deleted the word asscosiation thread which also deletes all your posts, no biggie unless the total amounts of post you do is your thing. I bet the new forum that was installed today does not count for you either and is why they probably created it. Of couse that means they'll figure out who is just posting for padding too.

yep chit chat is for off topic bs. word association was 220 something pages long so when I deleted it all those posts went by by. pic war is next (on my list anyway) doesnt mean it cant be started over again, but theres no need for pages and pages of stuff taking up server space. If you consider your post count as some kind of seniority thing guess again. Theres members that have been on here since the beginning with low post counts and members that have only been on for as little as a month with over 1000 posts. This board has really declined in tech the last few months and this may be a way to help separate the tech part of this forum and the BSing. So dont be surprised when you see a thread moved into chit chat and if you want to re-gain your post count, add some tech to the board

I can't believe people actually know their post count!! NO OFFENSE But WTF! I don't even know what my turtle points are. I can't even tell you right now, if they are + or - , I have no clue.

I keep saying we should get Marlin point for turtle points. THEN it would matter, but until then. WTF??

For some people it's a badge of honor, the more he/she posst the bigger they feel on a board. Phoey, it's all just fun but does use up space on someone's hard-drive. I'm more impressed with how long someone has been on a board than how many posts they may have, I goof off here tons, but at the same time am reading the tech stuff too. Never can get enough info and knowlege on what to do that will help out. When they first locked up Word Assotiation I was wondering when it would get deleted due to its size and usefulness to the board.

I have the second highest post count on this board. Does it really matter? nope. I could have a 0 post count for all I care. Id actually like to see there not be a post count shown. That'd slow some people down a bit but not all. I find posts of a

I am a mod on my clubs website which is open to everyone, had a guy join and just started dragging up old threads and just posting a smiley face. I went along for a while until it was just way to irritating he got to join the band, I later asked him if I let him back on would he stop doing that and he agreed....... and he was my little brother.

I think he was trying to catch up to me since I am the post

there. Not that I was trying to do that but when we first set it up myself and the admin. did alot of conversing on features for the site.

I'm not much of a forum person, so I have no idea. I'll be on here for a while and get bored for a bit. It really takes a lot to keep my attention. Marlin probably has had it the most of any forum I've been on.

IMO who cares about a post count.Does having 5,000 posts mean that that person knows more than someone with 5,no.Regardless of where they posted.For that matter you should go ahead and not count any posts in the classifieds or rig gallery or customer service or the newb section cause what do those really matter.What's the point of keeping track anyway?

Mine consists mostly of The History/Discovery Channels, HBO movies/series (Soprano's, Deadwood, Carnivale) and Simpsons/King of the Hill reruns when I get home from work and am making dinner. Oh, and Sex in the City reruns. and M*A*S*H.

I agree the posts should indicate a productive contribution to the forum. There should be no post count for Off Topic, Customer Service, Classified, Rig Gallery or any non-tech posts. I also believe that as part of the personal information in your profile you should be able to select weather you want to have a post count or even a turtle count. I can also see where restricting these counts will remove some of the fun of this sight. It can't all be just Tech information. There are many discussions that get people involved. Even the Word Association was a fun distraction. I see where there are several people on the sight that complain that there are "post padders" here. What the....is a post padder?

The post counts seem to be very important to some of the "old timers" on the forum. It must have some thing to do with "rank". I thought it was all just fun.

Give the moderators a "rank" and the rest turtle points and an avatar.
