I saw that post, I have the feeling its a fluke. Maybe some bad materials, or the guy has his steering stops shimmed down. Goes to show anything can break! Im still going to get a set.

Hes gonna be famous!

What do bumpstops have anything to do with barfields breaking? Do you mean steering stops? Did you read the thread? He's running a 4" ram to limit his steering.

I'm sure it's either a fluke or the 30's aren't as tough as everyone seems to think.

OOPS, I fixed it.   Naa those things must be as tuff as everyone says. They have to be, all this time and only one set fails besides the prototypes?  Maybe they will discover what went wrong and improve on the design even further

Do you know how many have sold? You will see quite a few breaking as more sell. Too new on the market to make a fair judgement yet.

I'm not saying they aren't tough by any means. Longfield builds a great product. I'm just pointing out that people with hopes of running 38"+ tires might be reaching a little far.

Juantunnboozer, you need to remember this is a yota axle we're taliing about not some sissy dana 44.  :slap:

Ill run 38's with no worries.  I dont drive like camo.

Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

Very true! Why would people wanna go bigger then 38's???  I noticed that the Formulas run 37's-38's. Seems like you would be inviting breakage with anything larger, with yota axles.

It depends on where you wheel. I'm running the smallest tires in my crew, 37's. The others are running 37-42" tires.

3 years ago people were asking why people were running anything larger than a 35" tire. Alot were running 33's. Now, 37's are pretty standard.

It's definatly is pushing the limits of Yota axles or any other 1/2 ton junk. Why else would there be 30 spline longs or Chromoly shafts and CTM's?

I still think there every bit of beef as stated,,Like camo said,,could have been a bad heat treat job,,or fluke,,Untill more start coming in broke,,I'd say there the siznit over anything else for the toy axle..

Probably an internal flaw in the piece of 300M he machined the cage out of.  I doubt Bobby is doing any ultrasonic testing on the materials before and after machining...too much time and money, so it is probably just a murphys law one in every hundred or so kinda issue.  They are still beef, no doubt!    :eyebrow:
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

I got em and been hammering  on em with 35/16 boggers. Over the weekend I was bouncing the front end, heck the whole truck for that matter and all it did was sling dirt and rocks :hammerhead:
