holy canolli, we finally caught a break! 6:00 am we're cruising down I-40 coming into Amarillo. Traffic was stopped in front of us just past exit 22 so we pullled over to check the map and listen to the CB. We heard the hiway was closed in both directions, so listening to the CB and checking Google map we are now on Old Rte 66, its a frontage road paralleling I-40 and we can now officially saw we cruised the real Rte 66 :ack:
SUre hope it goes far enough to get past this

holy :pokinit: it appears one truck ran into the rear end of another truck, and burst into flames. The truck was still smoking. Traffic is not going to be moving on either side any time soon.
:willynilly:
OMG! That was such quick thinking on Marks part to pull over!

that was about a good 10 mile backup, you could see where the truckers had just climbed in bed cause there'd be a couple truck lengths of no one in front of them. :haha:

What a MESS! We would have easily been there till noon! That goodness for CB's, truckers and wireless internet

Hi Guys,
Good to hear your on your way back to home sweet home. My grand dogs are having a ball . Ginger is up my :spankbutt: all day but we get along OK. Tiny-dog is OK too, he sleeps alot all day. I left a message a few days ago but I guess I forgot to post it,any way last weekend we went to the river house and I let the dogs out off leach knowing thats what you do at home.  Well Ginger was running around and got on the dock where Mary was so I proceded to go get her when she jumped in the river. OH NO,GATOR BAIT! She swam around until I could get around to the neighbors doc to reach over the side of the rail to grab her by the neck and pull her out with no gator attached. She was cold and shivering so I dried her off and blow dried. It seems to be like this day after day. If it's not one thing it's another but we are all having a good time especially at night, what a good bed partner. See you soon. The old man.

There was a truck between us and AJ. He said he saw smoke coming from around the truck and when the truck went around us the tire came flying at him :yikes:

The Mammoth was just getting back at him for delaying you guys.

:yikes:  She's WHAT?  :bumpinbutts:

I doubt she jumped in the water, she hates the water, but she can't see well any more, she probably just fell. Thank goodness there was no gators attached, we know that one loves to frequent the river and torment Mom!! :yikes:

Oh, and sleep is what tinydog does best these days. LOL

thanks for taking such good care of the poopers :smooch:

oooh... that looks like fun
:yikes:

What you can't see from that picture is there is about 50' drop just to the right of the mammoth into Little Sluice.

Mark had all his tools in the back of the Mammoth, it was way tail heavy.

I WAS sitting in the Mammoth video taping (with my eyes closed :yikes: LOL) when the tire came about 4' up the first time.

I got out to 'relieve some of the downside load' and video tape  , and Wermz got on the front bumper for ballast. I have it on video of him riding the mammoth about 3' in the air before Mark backed off again.

Wermz needs to pack on a few pounds before he can be useful as ballast.
I handed the camera to Mark to put away and jumped on the cage next to Wermz. between his skinny butt and my fat :moon: we were able to keep the left tire on the ground.

We had CT's ice chest strapped to the front stinger for the entire ride back out the next day which helped a bit I'm sure.

IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5
