More misc pics from our ride.  The last pic is the wermzmeister. Marlin could not believe he made it all the way in with that! LOL. Hell we saw a Tracker what looked like stock tires to me going in the trail. I have NO IDEA how they got as far as they did!

I could not believe that thing. That guy gave a great show every time I saw it. At Buck Isl. Lake he walked up this spot that a locked Jeep was having troubles with. It was amazing.

I am pretty positive he went out Cadillac Hill too..

I could not believe it! AJ pulled over, we were trying to back up on the shoulder cause his tire was shredded, but we had to have him pull up to us. Mark gets out, next thing I know this truck is pulled over in front of us backing up.
I thought maybe a good samaritan. I get out of the motorhome to see what's up and here comes Danny and his girlfriend (wife?) strolling around the corner

ANd of course :worthless:

AJ's spare didn't have the right rim, so he and Mark had to take the good tire off the wrong rim and put it on the shredded tires rim.
Mark popped the bead on the tire by putting a couple blocks of wood under the LBC's levelers and I raised and lowered the levers on his command.
I didn't get pics of that (obviously).
So after doing the ol' brake cleaner and lighter trick to seat the tire. (again, no :snapshot: I was hunting for the fire extinguisher just in case with all the dry grass :yikes: )
As Mark was airing up the tire AJ checked the other trailer tires. They were low so Mark had him pull his trailer up next to us in the grass. It seemed the ground was plenty hard enough but AJ managed to get the Beastmaster stuck just the same. :haha:
We got him pulled out (after snapping a tie down strap cause Mark didn't feel like pulling out the snatch strap) and headed to lovely downtown Bakersfield to pick up another spare. :ack:

a ways up the trail, as we all know about now, CT climbed a steep rock, the runner stalled and would not restart.
After trying for a while to get it running to no avail, and finding that they were only about 1/4 mile from Buck Island, they decided to pull him in a deal with it in the morning.

So we dragged it in and set up camp by about 11pm.

At the break of day it was time to get to work again...Mark worked some on the drive shaft, it was too long, and then the brainstorming began (I was wondering what that burning smell was! :hahaha: )

How many marliners does it take to get a 4runner running?

After many hours of brainstorming, ball busting, knuckle busting, replacing the ignitor with a donor from Hyena to no avail and general headscratching all around they decided they would try to get it running on the cold start enough that he would have steering and brakes and it could be dragged it to the springs.

It was then they realized they did not have any fuel coming through either. After cracking up thinking it might just be out of gas, it was determined it had to be the fuel pump as well as the ignitor.

Our intrepid travelers were about to hook up and dead stick drag the runner to the springs through miles of the most difficult section of the trail when in walks the man of the hour and voice of reason, stage left.

But not soon enough for wermz spankin new snatch strap to be spared it's initiation to the dirt. :haha:
