Hard to get in 1st with Centerforce Dual Friction
« on: Apr 04, 2005, 12:23:04 PM »
Ever since I put my Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch into my 86 4x4 with a 22r, its hard to get the tranny into 1st gear unless im still rolling. Reverse tends to do a minor grind when engaging that also. Just a note thats its not the pilot bearing, that was fixed in hopes of correcting, also, clutch was bled. Any ideas?

Did you put any lubricant on the input shaft of the Transmission? You might have a dragging clutch  witch can be caused by a dirty/worn input that does not allow clutch plate to move back and disengage from flywheel., causing hard engagement, sometimes cleaning the splines on the shaft is enough but a small amount of grease is recommended to let the clutch slid easily on the shaft.

I have had a CF dual friction in my 85 4runner for over a year now, and it slides into every gear effortlessly. definitely check the input shaft. Hope thats your problem otherwise im not really sure.
