Hard to move on 4x4

Guys yesterday night I was in the parking lot of a and I shifted it into 4 high (nothing out of the ordinary I was on a complete stop) and when I gave it some gas...it woulnt budge...I had to accelerate for than the usual for it to move in 4wd....and when I shifted from 4wd to 2wd....it felt like a backfire (kinda like hardshifting on a tranny) so what do you guys think it is...I would like to know so I can take care of it ASAP please

What he said. Actually, I dont know enough about your auto and its tcase. All I can say is that the system was in a bind. This happens alot when you are turning in 4WD. Then when you shift out of 4, the pressure will relieve and the springs will rapldly settle, that backfire you felt. This happens in Marlin's truck sometimes. Even I've had it where it wouldnt come out of 4..

I would do the swap. if you ever do any mudding, a stick shift is always better. plus I'd rather be in control of what gear I'm in, rather than having it shift before I want it to.

Actually for mudding an Auto is better bacause you dont endanger the clutch but my question was that if that is the only solution....I dont really have the money to swap a tranny

I belive that was the problem....sorry about that guys....I had never shifted into 4wd on pavement I just did it to get over this tall side walk
