Yes, bought the rock lights from Marlin.

Paint was done at M&S Collision in Santa Clara.  They painted my FJ40 years ago also

Today I finished up the lower portion of the swing away, welded in the latch, and welded in the hard stops - so they hit a stop when closed and hit a stop when they open 90°

Still making progress. Tire is mounted. Telescoping pole for the LED floodlight is mounted. Front Runner shelves with slide out cutting boards are mounted.

More to come!

Sweet! I haven't played with it yet, but it sure looks cool!

Might have to fill the fender bolt holes and paint it to match

I really need a CNC table.  This took me about 5 hours by hand.  ... And it's still not welded

It really is amazing the quality of your work man. It's inspiring! Also, at least you can say you hand CNC'd it lol. Good job!!!!

90'4runner......lots of goodies.

Thanks guys

I enjoyed making it the water jug holder, but what a time suck!

With just enough room left for the Powertank, I am officially out of space.  The license plate will actually get mounted to the HiLift, because except for inside the spare wheel, there's no space to mount it!  (I have a Trasharoo, so I don't want to do the spare tire idea)

I want to make a couple of changes to the bumper and then it all goes out for powder coat

Suspension changes are in my future... The tire is so heavy the whole truck leans to the drivers side

Put another water holder (or fuel holder) on it to the right..............

My bumper was off when I was flaring my fenders.  As a result, the lower edge of the fender stuck out too far.  I already scraped one with a rock.

I added on to the bumper to get more paint protection.

Everything's off to powder coat tomorrow

All of my Alcan springs have been hard on spring bushings. Looks like I was overdue in changing them.

Here's one of the suspension upgrades I was referring to.  I've been thinking of adding a sway bar for awhile.  So I took the plunge.

I took it for a joy ride tonight and was extremely happy with it!!   It handled downright sporty on some curvy roads, albeit the truck was extremely light ... no load, no bumper, and no swing-aways.  I'm sure even with a load it'll be a huge improvement though.  And thanks to a cool equalizer app gnob told me about, AC/DC was sounding even better too [emoji106][emoji106]

My body roll was a bit out of control with orbit eyes in both ends of the Alcan springs. The sway bar tightened things up nicely.  If I don't like how it behaves off road, I'll just disconnect a link when I'm airing down.

I also need to adjust pressures in the ORI struts, they're contributing to the drivers side lean

What am I missing? Do you have bushings or orbit eyes?

I am also confused. I can only think these must be the bushings at the top of the shackle?

I am in line here also. I would imagine his spring have orbital eyes and as you said, these have to be the frame side of the shackle.

Yep, yep... springs have dual orbit eyes... top of shackle has factory style bushings.

I'm sure you are, but were you aware that lubricating poly bushings with a non synthetic grease will cause them to deteriorate?

Finally wrapped up the swing out project.  Swapped out the latch for a larger one. Made a new, larger, piece out of delrin for the swing outs to rest against when closed.  Wired in some 3/4" red LEDs for brake lights... Same type as my turn signals up front.

I ended up making a bolt on license plate mount, which mounts it to the HiLift.  It uses illuminated bolts, so I'm still legal.

I found a neat waterproof switch for the LED flood light and cut a spiral cord off a test light I had that I never used, to handle the telescoping pole.

The sway bar is fantastic.  I needed it before adding the extra weight, but now even with the extra weight, it's handling much better on road.

Pretty happy with the results. Nice and sanitary.

Didn't know that, thanks

I didn't either....  :disturbed:

"Polyurethane bushing manufacturers advise to never use a petroleum based grease for poly bushing lubrication. Polyurethane should only be lubricated with one specific type of grease to insure long bushing life, and squeak-free performance, Silicone based synthetic water-proof grease.

We've found this grease to be so good, we use it for the entire chassis lubrication on the cars we build and race out of our shop. It stays where you put it and doesn't wash away. This grease can be very hard to find at your local stores. This grease is available from Spohn Performance, it's our Part #902, click here to check it out."

This was part of my swing away project that I didn't get around to doing right away.  I took the carpeted panel off the tailgate and ordered a 3/8" thick sheet of grey cutting board material.

I used a router to put a round edge on it.  The screw holes are counter sunk, but I didn't buy the stainless flat head screws yet.

Whats the purpose?  Tailgate cooking?  Or just tired of carpet jank?
Looks tight as usual.  Im in need of a router setup.  Seems more and more uses coming up.

Man, I had a piece of 3/16" aluminum cut out for mine and will secure it with riv-nuts. I really like the cutting board idea as well! That stuff is not cheap either. Where did you snag a sheet of it from?

swilson

All the above.

I figured a giant cutting board would be super handy.  I do most of my cooking on the tailgate, so keeping it clean was impossible. Now cleanup will be easy

Plus, I'm considering eliminating all carpet from the rear of the 4Runner, so this was a good start
