what shocks??
« on: Aug 01, 2012, 09:14:45 AM »
hey guys..so after 2 years without a yota,i picked one up last weekend.im runnin 44044 fronts,56"chevies(bds 4"lift springs)with revolver shackles, ott highsteer, hydro assist.its got bumpers, exo cage, winch, canopy ect.. so its not the lightest rig.its running rancho 9000xls.they are two years old and completely shot.truck was a dd before i bought it and was pretty much just driven on road.so with the well worn in springs, weight, and dead shocks, she floats down the road like a boat.throw in the hydro assist and hold on.lol...im trying to decide if i should get something simple like a bds/procomp shock or try bilsteins?i really like the idea of being able to tune the shocks but the xls are pricey and only last for a couple years?also i am trying to compensate for worn leafs but i cand afford to do both right now.i suck at posting pics so......no pics.

Ture words right there. King, Fox, Sway A Way, Radflo, Bilstien. All can be tuned to work just as well as the other.

:yesnod: they may be more money to start but in the end you will be happy with the purchase all you gotta do is rebuild them every couple years or when they leak and then its cheaper then replacing the shocks again. you change your setup change the valving id go with one of the said companies above at tacorunner stated.

so i messed around with the truck a bit.so the shocks still seem to have lots of pressure(nitogen charged),but the 9000 adjuster doesnt work on any of them.the front 44044s seem to be the 6 leaf pack with the bottom leaf removed.i was thinking about just putting the leaf back in on the saggy(passenger)side but im starting to think i should just be patient and wait until i can afford new springs and shocks.i dont think i need anything to high end for shocks..never needed them before.ive never used bilsteins before.maybe i will give them a try.they seem to be pretty popular.but ya..a new set of 44044s are probably a good idea seeing as thats what the front end was built around.the front axle has been moved forward so if i was to get a set of trail gear or all pro springs, would my axle stay in the same place or be moved even further forward? :headscratch:

Depends on the hanger positioning. if its even more forward then where we require it then yes it would move it even more forward with the all pro or tg springs since they are off set to move the axle 1.5 forward
