Help me spend $300 on my truck... looking for suggestions
« on: Dec 17, 2010, 09:54:28 PM »
I just graduated from college and I have a little bit of spare cash to spend on the crawler, $300. My rig is pretty built as far as axles, tcase, trans, engine, suspension. I am thinking about building an anti wrap bar for the rear, but I am open to other ideas... SO let me know what ideas you have for spending my money. Here are some pics to show what we are working with.

I have a york air compressor on the 4.3L chevy under the hood and the bed is an air tank, but that would be a very good idea

If you got a bender, steel to make a plate or tube bumper will be under 100 bucks, then get bobbys dowel mod like shown, fill tank up, buy beer, give rest to a girl scoput or someone, buy a kid a toy. Id wanna protect that nice winch you got, but I smack my hanger alot how I drive.

These are good ideas--the OBA and anti-wrap, too.  Can't tell for sure from the pics, but how 'bout DYI beadlocks?  Synthetic winch line and a Hawes fairlead to replace the vulnerable roller fairlead?  Dual battery set up for the big amp alt. you're probably gonna tell me you already have?  :gap:

A small 5# propane tank, a propane distribution tree with lantern, a portable BBQ grill, and whatever you like to grill seem like a good way to spend it as well!

A PETT toilet system is good too.

X2.  I bought all the parts to build a traction bar piece by piece.  Would have been nice to buy it all at one time like that.  I still have to get mine fab'd up this winter.

I'd suggest a traction bar Ryan.

I'd also think about a fire extinguisher and mount.
Here's a nice quick release bracket to mount to your rear tubework
