how tall are you? because if you are 5 foot 10 or more the first gen trucks will be a little snug.  I can expect anyone over 6 foot would be pretty uncomfortable.

that said that things a sky scraper :ack:

My suggestion is to not even mess with a stock solid axle truck .  Find the newest truck you can buy and build from there .    EFI is better than carbed   The newer transmissions are better   The newer IFS rears are better  The ifs steering box is already there   the list goes on and on .   I have a 85     its actually more of a pain than if i would have just got another  ifs truck .   You can pick up a front axle for 200-350 ?   and by the time you are done   you will not have anything left of the solid axle truck that you bought .   Actually  if you were really smart  just get a real nice 2wd and then build it  . cheaper to buy and less crap to cut off to put a solid axle under  and   a better frame  .

X2

the best thing about that is you get to build the truck the way you want it. it takes same amount of time if not more to clean some one elses hack job and poor welding.

Find a early 90's xtra cab 2wd, with a 22re(never 3.0) and a manual trans and build from there.

i ended up getting a solid 82. the guy built it right but i totally know what you are saying with the seating. i am only 5'8" so it works for me but my friend is 6'8" and his knees were almost to the ceiling. haha. toyotas are some fun little trucks. may have to play with a 2wd after this one.

I like the look of a first gen, but it was just to small for me (6 foot tall). plus i have a one year old now and building a two seater wasnt going to work for us. I sold my first gen and bought an 87 4runner, best decision i ever made. more room for me and my family!
