I'm lifting an '80 pu long bed.  I need some springs that can carry a load.  I'm thinking about a 3/4 ton capacity.  Its stock now and I ride on the bump stops every time I put anything in it.

I'm looking at 35" tires and 3.5-4" of lift no body lift.  I'm looking for dependability and I wont to do it right the first time. I'm making an all around trail rig,  fire roading and rocks mostly, that can still carry some hay if I need it to.  any suggestions?

dude. air bags.

get air bags.

i ran heaveir load handleing springs in the rear of my truck and it just plain sucked offroad.  because they are stiffer.

so basically you need stiff springs sometimes and regular springs the rest.  right?

so air shocks are out of the question cause they suck and there isn't a very good variety out there.  now air bags thats the ticket.

i'm not sure if they would limit your travel.  i haven't ever ran them myself, but i have seen them on the trail and the guys i saw running them use them to their advantage.  there may be diferent ones.  some for load bearing and some for wheeling i don't know.  :dunno:

the guys i have seen have controls for them in the cab and they use the air bags to force what ever wheel they want down to the ground.

i saw a guy in the little sluice box use them that way.
it was definatley cool.
