Need suggestions...
« on: Oct 19, 2006, 06:55:46 AM »
Allright im thinking bout picking up a 89 standard cab pickup [Yota of course] with a 3inch body lift for about $2500-3000. The body, paint, interior, frame & motor seems to be in good shape. But theres a transmission problem it occassionally slips out of 1st gear. What im wondering is that an okay price for this truck with the current problems? The owner is asking for $3900. Is this easily fixable problem? Will i need a new transmission or can i rebuild it? If i need a new transmission should i just go with a factory transmission or look for a performance transmission? Could this just be a clutch problem? Any suggestions will be helpful thanks.

How many miles are on it?  $2500-$3000 would be a great price if you can get it.

I'm with the rest on the bodylift causing the body to hit the shifter. Check to see if it is touching or even close to touching body roll or torque from the engine could cause the shifter to hit the body and bump it out of gear.

I would try to stay on the bottom side of $2500 though...use the tranny problem as a bargaining chip...even if it turns out to be installation error on the body lift.

:werd: could be a shifter seat bushing too, but that is easy to fix as well
