The smart thing to do would be to send it to a reputable machine shop and have them do it and have them check 4 a valve job.

Should have ordered the ported, and over sized valve, head from them.  Outside of what you ordered, get a header and high flow exhaust.  Should get the oversized valves for your head, to get it to breath smoother.  Outside of that, your not gonna get alot of HP out of a 22r/re.  Without going with a turbo.  You will probably only gain a handful of power, but you will get some better torque with the cam.

Good luck.

Should introduce yourself here, and tell us about what you got.

engnbldr is a reputable machine shop .... above that, you should add a cam, the 22r/re is not a powerhouse, but for the $, nothing will liven one up like a cam..... you may also wnat to add a high quality exhuast system

and the reason you wont get any noticeable power from your engine is because the cam you chose is LAME

install this cam http://www.toyotacatalog.net/M1WebGear/ProductDetails.aspx?PartUniqueID=2B3BCB39-57B7-4E3B-9C29-71F773B35A7B   and you WILL notice HP

2x on the above cam.. looks to me like it's good enough to be sold twice by lce. for carb/efi and for efi. plus the spec's look the same as the downey-offroad cam. I'll put one in my next motor.
