2003 1st Gen Taco Trans Options Question
« on: Dec 30, 2015, 07:29:04 PM »
Hello all,
Looking for some powertrain advice here. 2003 extra cab Taco. I've spent a few hours looking for options on transmissions and came up with my master plan. Just came across a thread here and plan went out the window. From my CSI I discovered that the R151F is one of the best trans for durability and install. My master plan was a Marlin 3RZ bell housing, R151F, 4.70 splitter and a lefty transfer case. I just saw a post from October 15 on requesting the 3RZ bell housing to be brought back so I figured this is not an option at this time. I did not see the Lefty on store site so I figure that possibly is not an option either. My question is "What are my best options for a sturdy good build?" for a  2003  Gen 1 powertrain build. I'm installing a new 3RZ Engine. I'm doing powertrain first, pay that off and then doing the axle upgrades with SAS with 4.88 gears. The current trans is a W59 with chain transfer case. Sorry I'm long winded. I'm old and tired of searching the sites. Lol. Thanks for reading.
