My 2003 Taco. Help!!
« on: Apr 10, 2020, 07:35:04 AM »
Hey Guys,

Been a long time fan on here and I have been working on my03 taco with the 5VZ FE in it. I recently had issues with the truck starting at all after a heavy rainstorm. I also noticed that the battery died overnight. I realized I had some parasitic draws. I managed to narrow it down to the EFI circuit and the ECT. I also realized water had got in the cab, So I sealed it up really well and pulled everything to let it dry.

Things i've done so far after it dried.
1. Check for spark - Good
2. Checked that I had fuel pressure to the rail - Good
3. Pulled the computer and realized it was full of water, cleaned it out and cleaned up the contacts as best I could. (Parasitic draws went away)

What else can I look at? The truck will just crank over and over. I did manage to get it started for a second by spraying starter fluid into the intake..

Im leaning towards a dead computer but wanted to see what else I could check before spending 100 of $$ on a computer.

Thanks You!

Check engine light is on when I have in the on position.

I can't read any codes. Won't connect to the computer at all.

Thanks I'll try that out when I got home tonight. Didn't think to check that. That would definitely help with checking the computer

No 5v there either. Must be the computer? Considering it was full of water it makes sense...
