That is true. Fixing to order a set of 4.7 transfer case gear's also. One case will have 2.28 and the other one 4.7, should help out with my 37's

ya that will more than accommodate 37s while in 4L, but as mentioned above when you get the funding you should get your thirds fixed up with at least 4.88s... 5.29s preferably if your gonna run that big a tire with that 22r.  I have a 3rz and 5.29 and i notice my 38s quite a bit.

If i'm gonna go thru the trouble of swapping gear's i'm gonna go with 5.29's. I'm gonna be going down to a 35 once LTB's come back out in September, 40's if I can get it 3 linked in the fornt and 4 linked in the rear by then. All depend's on funding tho.

Alright need some advice/opinon's. If you look at the pic I put up you can see the truck sit's lower and the front. What is the easiest/cheapest way to keep running RUF. In the pics you can see how they are mounted. I just want the front of the truck to sit as high as the back so I can clear 37's without having my tire eat the $hit outta my fender's.

I like to get the front end out front further but that's just me. I used some springs off a '94 on mine, the longer later model springs have the center pin even further forward.  I only have 35s on there now but I have a TON of room at full stuff.  You have to re-arange the front body mounts a bit because the steering box has to be way forward but I think it's worth it.  The ride is even better than the older rear springs and the flex is just plain crazy.  I had to tone down the droop and stuff a bit by running shorter shocks because it had so much flex at first that the top of the steering arms would come into contact with the shock body and it would stretch out the super long extended brake lines like guitar strings. Functioning bump stops are a real asset too.

Here is a pic without the fenders and there is no engine in there but you get the idea...

go to a salvage yard that has the old box type S10 pickups. you need some rear springs from the 2wd trucks.  then take one or two of the S10 leaves and mix into your ruf pack.

you'll gain flex and a better ride.

anyway.  its smokes.  have you run a compression test??   this will tell you if you need new valve seals or if you need new rings or both.

This.  R series engines often smoke due to needing valve stem seals or valve guides well before they're actually due for a rebuild, but not knowing this people often have them rebuilt at greater cost.  My 91 smokes a little on startup or if idled around for a bit but has over 190 psi across the board.  It just needs valve stem seals.

Are you sure it wasn't a 22r block, 20r head and efi grafted on?  Can't see any reason to swap the efi stuff on a lower powered bottom end  :dunno:
