Marlin Springs, body roll, and an ugly scraping noise...
« on: Jul 10, 2005, 02:28:39 PM »
Finally got the rear shocks on and went for the maiden voyage.  The body roll is insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone else have ths with Marlin springs?  It feels like the truck is leaning over and scraping the ground around turns.  No doubt the flex will be sweet off road, but I gotta get to the trail first.   :gap:
Also, turning right is fine, but I have a nasty scraping noise in the pass. side front axle area turning left.  I have checked and there is no tire rubage, so I am looking for suggestions.
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

Make sure the wheel bearings are set correctly and the trunion bearings are in good shape.  The springs shouldnt have any thing to do with any scraping noises.

The springs most ikely arent all that bad your just used to having stock springs. ;)

Oh yea this is WT Im at ShawnB's obviously. :hahaha:

are your shocks ajustable... make them stiff for the road... then when you get there... well you get the point .
I'd like to quit thinking of the present as some minor insignificant preamble to something else~~~~~

All bilsteins...no adjustment, but they are nice and stiff.  The ride is great...looks like time to hook up the axle rebuild.  Wasn't making that noise before the suspension, don't know what I did...I'll find it though.  Maybe I need to look into those anti-rock style sway bars.   :dunno:

Unless you are planning on running you rig through a slalom course I wouldnt worry about a sway bar.  Coil over and coil sprung rigs need a sway bar to keep allt hat free droop under control.  Thats an issue that standard 1/2 elliptical rigs dont have. ;)

I don't want consumer reports to rate my truck like a samurai!   :gap:
