I was having the same problem. Adding the oil slinger didnt help much. I took the shifter off and re installed it with a lot of rtv after cleaning the surface. The leak is gone. Another problem I was having and still am is the case was/is heating up excessively. The shifter is hotter to the touch then the crawl box shifter.
While driving, After I let up on the gas peddle at higher speeds I hear a slight grinding noise that seems to be coming from the rear case. Could a bearing be going out or something? The case has 4.7 gears and they do work properly.
