So Saturday went something like this..........

Getting into the shop around 8:30, I had my work cut out. The interior wires were in a mess and some of the '81 circuits still needed to be sorted out. The dash was still in the bed of the truck and everything was in pieces. However on Thurs night, I was able to get most of the gauges working except for the oil pressure gauge and the "sensor" check engine idiot light.

I dont have much to say really, I just started knocking things down and completing tasks. When I've got so much to do and I can't really do anything without research for just a single wire, I really dont know where to start. So I would just check the '81 wiring diagrams and anything that I saw that wasn't needed I would check for those wires, trace them around to make sure they weren't tied into something else, and then I would just start cutting stuff out.

In the end, on Saturday, I had all of the wiring 100% completely finished. All of the circuits had been traced and all of the wires were in the correct location. Everything on the dash was working including the factory SR5 oil pressure gauge which required the 3RZ sender to be switched out with a 22R sender which bolted right on. I got the check engine light wired into the '81's California emission's "sensor" indicator light, and I'm hoping the smog ref will allow that light to be used for the check engine MIL lamp. :crossed:

Also, can you believe it, the stock carburated tach seems to work perfectly with the 3RZ's efi system. Im not sure if its correct, but the low speed readings are correct as the idle is just below 1k. But im not sure if it will be right up towards redline.. Also the '81 speed sensor is wired in and a couple of test drives revealed that there is a difference with it plugged in or unplugged, so Im hoping that its working..

So that's Saturday. Just alot of work, I stayed busy, fortunately I wasn't interrupted, and I had a great day and got alot done. Here are some pics of the finished wiring looms. SURE LOOKS GOOD EH? They are so much smaller now compared to their original size I am VERY happy that I spent over a week cleaning out unneeded wires. It paid off in the end!!
