The lists would be created as a result of me not having enough personal restraint on a public forum, right?
Not how you say it, but what you say and where you post it, i.e., "Lets burn down the "X" as part of a BLM/Antifa forum, no issue, same post on any website deemed anti-left, yes.  Heck, now they re asking you to report your family, friends and neighbors for extremist views, which is anything the Left opposes, like freedom of speech or choice.

Right after 911, a business associate's daughter was attending a university and working on her Master's thesis.  The subject apparently was being monitored by our illustrious intelligence community. She was contacted by the FBI, and interrogated. She was quickly dismissed as some kind of terrorist.

So much for being secure in her person, home, and her papers from warrantless searches.  I have no issue with the gov. monitoring non-citizens communications w/o a warrant and responding, but they should never be able to respond to a citizens communications without a warrant, regardless of what the citizen is engaged in, and any communications collected prior to obtaining a warrant, shouldn't be used to obtain the warrant.  Living in a free society comes with inherent risks, one of which is LEO's having to wait for a citizen to actually commit/engaging in a criminal act at the time, before they can interact with that citizen, as wanting, planning to commit a crime, is not the same as actually committing a crime, regardless of the threat their thoughts pose to the safety of society.
