Got the suspension done today minus the shocks. Sits at 25 1/4" to the frame under the door. Prettttyyy stoked on it so far, next is the steering box and power steering install. It dumped rain alll day at my house and it was snowing up the hill at my friends house, realllly hoping to get some good snow wheeling in soon  :driving:

keeping the SA frame rigs low is easier forsure than an IFS frame rig.

Lol yeah I know what your saying, hoping to make this thing look good and not just another chopped up thrown together beater first gen. Seems like I see beater first gens more than nice stock ones and nice built ones.

About to go down to the shop and work on the first gen. working on mounting the steering box and the plates. Shouldnt be hard at all have a flat pitman arm ready to go and there seems to be plenty of room to mount it

as for my 4runner, i emailed lowrange yesterday about my problem and they still haven't replied..   if i don't hear from them by tomorrow night i will email them again. even though its a trail gear product i figured i would start with the company i bought it from. We will see what happens lol

Still have yet to hear back from low range.. gonna email them again right now. If nothing again i will call them next week and see whats up.

Got the steering box pretty much done on the first gen. Steering geometry all looks tits, got the plates and sleeves tacked in place. I also got the frame plate templates made last night when i got home from school. Jarrod is gonna come over when he gets off work at 12 then i want to focus on the power steering and get that hooked up and bled. After we get it to steer we can bleed the brakes, dump some gear oil in the axles and pull her out of the shop and stretch the legs out. Gonna try to kick it into high gear today! haha

The first dent is gonna be sad but I'm gonna have to laugh about it. Haha. Jarrods face will probably make it way easy to laugh at. I know mine was, plus It's a crawler now haha. But he does have the original white fenders still, uncut with the valence still. The fenders on the truck are off craigslist spray painted white. He talks about getting another bed to bob/dove but idk that's up to him. I'd keep the original bed and wheel it but that's just me haha.

Got a lot done this weekend on the first gen, it drives! all thats left now is shocks and frame plate, then a final run through to check everything. the rear driveline ended up fitting when we didnt think it was going to work so thats cool. flexed it out a few times to see where he needs to trim the fenders and its way less then i thought. lol it was snowing today up the hill again so a snow run is coming up for sureee

Awesome first gen you blokes built there. I love the clean crawler look.

Love your 4runner too. The 4runner/surf is one of those vehicles I see and say to myself "I'd love to build a SAS 4runner...". One day hopefully! Yours has definitely inspired me even more!

J_Cole92

Thank you! we will see how long the first gen will stay that clean for haha

Hopefully forever. You guys don't understand how hard it is to find a nice 1st gen on this side of the country. We die a little inside when we see a nice one get cut up and thrashed.

Yeah i've come to the conclusion that we live in toyota land on the west coast haha. Between California, Oregon, and Washington toyotas, especially first gens, are pretty easy to come by. 4runners and pickups are even more common. But the prices out here can be a bit ridiculous even for a rust bucket lol. And its not like i go out in my truck trying to run into every rock on the trail, i like to try hard lines and body damage is bound to happen. i hate hate hate when people build a nice, very capable crawler that is able to run all the difficult lines and with ease yet they take the by passes and don't ever use their rig to its FULL potential. Its a rock crawler not a show truck. The first time i went to fordyce when i was still in high school, multiple people told me "if your scared of rolling your truck or getting body damage don't even take your truck on this trail" lol just my thoughts on it, to each their own.

Went up snow wheeling last night, left around 8 didn't home until 4 in the morning. Had a blast managed to de bead my right rear. Got stuck a few times, and got to plow some deep powder. there was 3 to 4 feet in some of the bigger holes. I got my set up kit for my Detroit too so that will be getting installed soon. I want beadlocks and iroks so bad now. Dan and Josh both have iroks on beadlocks and those things were griping like crazzzzy. The mtr's did good once i aires down to like 6 or 7 psi, wonder why i de beaded one  :ha_ha: The 4runner did awesome tough even mashing 4th gear 4 low all the way to the top of the lookout haha

We went up mormon emigrant trail which turns into highway 88. yeah i defiantly like snow wheeling at night the most, just smashing throw powder following your friends through trails, doesn't get much better than that i think lol. More lights is a must though i ordered more rock lights but they haven't come yet. Prolly get some pods or something idk if i want a light bar on my roof, i'm not the biggest fan of that lol i need tires more than anything now.

So last week i blew a coolant hose off on my 84, 22r. Did research for 3 days and could not find anywhere the right hose i need. haha it is a coolant bypass hose and it is under the carb kinda, above the oil filter. you cant really see is unless you have taken a lot of stuff off the motor, the best way to see it is from under the truck or just feel for it. After going to almost every auto parts store with no luck with a molded hose i decided to just go for some generic heater/radiator hose. Dude at napa told me i don't have a fitting on the truck for coolant over 5/8" hahaha. well he was wrong took calipers to the inlet and it measures to 7/8" go figure. then it took 3 stores just to find the 7/8" hose lol. Finally found some today at car quest. The hose fits like it should just need to hose clamp it on, put the ac compressor back on and fill it back up with coolant. never did i think a 22r coolant hose would give me so much trouble  :ha_ha: now that my daily will be going again i can get back to working on the runner. My 35" mtr's will be for sale within the next week, probably gonna wait until next week so me and jarrod can go to prairie city this weekend. then detroit front with brand new 5.29s   i need to make new sliders too my are haggard haha ill post some pics when i come back up from the shop tonight.
