Love the build.  The fuel sending units are always fun. Did mine a while back by my self "not recommended" ended up just pulling the whole tank off and reinstalling by myself.  Good looking under carriage shots!!

Thanks man! It's been quite the learning experience. And yes I can totally relate, I dropped the tank and put it back in by myself lol it was not fun but not as bad as the time I put my transfercase back in by myself lol

Got most everything cut out that I wanted out, not gonna worry about grinding it all down to the frame rails like a sas, just gonna clean it up the best I can with the torch. Figured I'm gonna run 14" shocks and set them up for 7" up 7" down travel. I need to go get some tube to bend the new shock tower up, then cut out the old shock tower and cut the old shock tabs off so I can re use them on the new shock tower. Tonight when I get off work I'm gonna wash the 84 then get back to working on the runner.

Top of the bumper I couldn't get to

Idea of how the the shocks are gonna go

What's left or the spare tire carrier, gonna clean it up tonight. Also have to weld a tab onto the frame for the exhaust, it was welded to the spare tire carrier before.

Got a little bit of stuff done last night, I decoded to notch the cross member that was kinda in the shock path. It wasn't completely blocking anything but I didn't want to be lazy and settle for less so I just did it. Plenty of room now for the shocks. Then I tried to weld the tops of the bumper with only 110 and that was a joke lol. Not even close to enough power so now I'm just about at a stand still im untill I get 220 in the shop

So I decided I wanted the creeper joints trail gear makes, I've always liked them and wanted them since before I even built the truck originally lol. I ordered a pair tonight since their having a 10% off sale, hoping they will show up by next weekend. Suppose to have the shop wired up for 220 by then  got the old shackle hangers cut off tonight, have class tomorrow night so I plan to grind it all flush Saturday

Hangers gone now the not so fun part

What was left of the spare tire carrier

Figured I should try to make it look half way decent hahah

Did a wax job on the 84 too, haven't done it at all since I've owned it and it's starting to shine pretty nice haha

Got the frame cleaned up and grinded smooth, put a couple holes in the frame so I'm gonna plate it then it will be fine again. Cut out the plates for that and a bunch of gussets for the rear bumper. Just gotta clean them up tomorrow but I still have to wait for my 220 to weld them in lol

Hodor.

I just tacked on a sky's front hanger on my 4runner.  I was wondering if it would bend not being boxed in on the bottom and it looks like yours has a little from the rocks.  I think ill make up some plates to weld into the bottom of mine.

Awesome runner btw, love that its still on 35's after all this time and doing work!

Yes I would defiantly plate the bottom of the hanger, I have put numerous dents in mine. If it's bad enough I pry it back with a crescent wrench, probably have had to do that like 5 to 10 times. My buddy is gonna run the same hanger and I had him plate the bottom of his, he hasn't built the truck yet but I'm sure it will help a ton.

Yeah the 35s work but Id be lying if I said I don't want bigger tires lol. I love the kevlars they grip nice even wet. I put a hole in my pass. rear a few months back and can't get it to completely seal. I've been running my spare which is an old style mtr 35 so it's smaller and about bald. I need to decide whether to find a new 35 mtr Kevlar or buy bigger tires  :shake:

Got some parts last week.  Detroit for the front and the creeper joints for the rear. I have a brand new 5.29 r&p to throw together with the detroit. Still waiting on the 220 in my shop  but i managed to get the welder working okay on 110 so i taked my flame pates up and the creeper joints.

main reason why i like the creeper joints is that it eliminates a bushing

last friday we stayed up till 2 am working on travs truck then went to fordyce saturday morning for the day. My dad let me use his truck to tow uo and maannnn i never want to drive my rig to and from the trail ever again hahah. Now i get why everone tows their junk, time to start saving for a cummins!!

Okay so after the shocks mounted and get the floor welded in and the shackle hangers welded in, i want to turn my A/C pump into an air compressor. Ive been starting to read a ton on the conversion and seems like everyone does it a bit different. No biggie. Seems like i need a air filter for the pickup, a tool oiler, and a air / oil separator, use hi temp hose, some people use a blow off valve some don't, figured i would throw one on just cause it seems like a good idea lol. Is there anything i should watch out for or make sure i do or anything?? i know i saw you dingman on a post from a few years back, did you ever install your? you said you had all the parts but never did it lol. Any advise would be sweeet! thanks guys

Got the shop all wired up for 220 monday morning!   when i got home from work i got both the shackle hangers and both plates welded, then tonight i got the two big gussets welded on. i have a bunch more i might add a few but the two big ones made the bumper solid as hell now so im happy about that. Gonna grab some metal for the shock hoop and some new sliders either today or tomorrow, then order some new 14" billstiens weld the floor back in and the rear end should be buttoned up.

Trying to get this thing wheelable again asap but it's taking longer that I'd like haha. Got the 14" shocks last week, ordered new shock tabs from ruffstuff, got some metal and bent the shock hoop last night and got the fenders notched so the hoop can drop on top of the frame. Plan on doing some more work tonight..

Sitting after the new shackle hangers and new shackle angle

Flex test on the neighbors trailer to get some measurements for shocks. It was right at about 35-36" to the top of the deck, rear end was just about to hang a tire. Measured a bunch of stuff.

Brand new shocks. Don't this my truck will sag as hard with a load now, way stiffer than the pro craps I had. Hoping it goes down the freeway better too, 1 shock in the front and 1 in the rear are blown so it gets wobbly at high speeds. I want to get some billsteins for the front too soon.

Shock hoop bent, need to cut it down shorter. It's was too tall right now lol

Anddd the mailbox stand I made for my parents to go out front, the base is an old big rig brake drum lol :usa:

Finished mounting the shocks last night. Got two different shock tabs from ruffstuff and used 1 of each on each shock. The two hoop angles are like 3 degrees different cause my switch on the bender stuck and I over bent one bend slightly hahaha oops. Rear end is way stiffer now, I'm liking it a lot. Onto the floor this weekend. I would start tonight but I have class after work

Thanks, i think it's gonna help a ton too.

Got most of te floor welded back in place. I ended up going to to metal store and getting a piece of 18 gauge steel. Made it easier to weld into place cause i cut it a little big so it would over lap onto the floor. Worked out awesome just need to put a brace across the middle. Gonna get some more done tomorrow I'm burnt out for today haha

Got some templates made tonight, excited to try and finish this thing up in the morning. I was worried about this part the most but so far it's been pretty smooth sailing. Thinking about doing shifter boots around the shocks to cover the holes and make it look cleaner. Also playing with the idea of doing some sort of roll on bed liner so it all looks like one big piece. I'll figure that stuff out last obviously haha

I just wanna drive this thing! Haha need to smog it this moth too.. That's the next project hahaha

Thanks, I'm so happy with it. Haha

Drove it yesterday and it was awesome! Cruises at 65-70 no problem, no wobbles and hits bumps way nicer. Now I want some billsteins in the front haha. No rattles from the floor at all or anything seemed to be just like it was before inside the cab  :driving:

Getting ready to build my best friends jarrods first gen. He bought marlin high steer arms a while back then got the trail gear trunnion bearing eliminator kit. The hole in the marlin arms were way bigger than the TRE piece you press in. I thought we would have a sleeve made to reduce the inside diameter. A close family friend owns a machine shop in west sac so I went and saw him. He said a sleeve would create a weak point, so to weld the hole up with 7018 3/32" sticks. Not completely close the hole but just make the I.D. smaller then come back and he would bore it out to the I.D. of the Trail Gear TRE piece so we can just press it in like it was ment to be. Jarrod welded them up and I took them back and bam! Marlin Crawler high steere, welded and machined to accept Trail Gear Trunnion Bearing Eliminator kit. Kinda some one off shizZ lol

Either here or pirate. He said he's gonna do a thread though. Were doing it in my shop so I'll make sure to get good pics the whole time.

Went for a drive today to get my check engine light to come back on. Turns out it was a code #42 vehicle speed sensor. Makes sense because the light started coming on as soon as I put the 4 cyl transfer case in with the 4.7s since the v6 plug is different. Ordered the adapter plug tonight from low range. Should be able to pass smog after that!
