Got everything done and mounted last night. i raised the tranny and t case pretty much as high as i can without cutting the floor. Just used 2x3 and boxed it to mount it i still need to brace it but so far its  cool well see how it works out soon. Im gonna build a skid plate too so i don't rip the drain plug off haha seems like gained maybe a couple inches of clearence also went over to my buddy erica house and helped him start bending up an internal cage in his 84 xtra cab

those x memebr mounts are welded directly to the bottom of the frame?

ya im gonna do some more work on it like the skid plate, gussets/braces and paint, its not done yet just enough to pull out of the garage haha

just found front range makes a cool little skid plate for their crossmember which is kinda like mine, thinking of getting that next week when and i realized its gonna be tight shifting into 2nd and 4th might have to go twin sticks right off the bat lol

Thanks man I'm probably gonna order the front range skid plate when i get payed lol and yea single 4.7s for now i want to go duals eventually but i can have fun with the single case still haha

Buddy has a single 4.7 with some marlin twin sticks in his 2nd gen v6 runner.

Shifters still hit.  I think he has to drive around without the shift knobs on one or both of the tcase shifters.
The shorththrow kit sounds like it would be cool though!

Okay so idk why but I put the tcase stick in backwards like an idiot so now it doesn't hit and all that is g mode

Pulled it out of the garage drove it around the block got back in front of my house put it in low stated playing with the 4.7s then I went to put it back in 2hi and it was just in neutral so we pushed it back in front of the house and started looking and checking and pretty much came to the conclusion it something with the clutch. The tranny and tcase shift and go into gear fine it's just when I let the clutch out it's just in neutral is what it seems. Gonna try to bleed it tonight if that doesn't work the tranny has to get dropped again which is lame lol everyone I talked to said clutch so ya well see but I still have to wait to get me exhaust done before i want to drive it, it's so loud haha

get it fixed and lets go wheelin.

the clutch master/pedal might need to be adjusted as well.

if the slave cylinder is sticking id ditch it now and get a new one.

what is the problem you are describing?

You put the tcase back into 2-hi and it acts like it is neutral?
Im confused, if you drove the truck around the block and everything was fine why do you think the clutch is the problem?

I have a feeling you are not having the case go back into gear?

EDIT:  i may have read it better.

you can put the tcase or the trans in gear and when you let the clutch out it doesn't move?  have you tried this with the case back in low range?
Was there any pop's or anything?  As in could you have broken an input gear or anything?  Does the tcase or trans grind when you try to shift it?
How about putting it in gear and then starting it (make sure you won't run into anything)

Last question.  did you coast at any rate of high speed with the transmission in gear while in low range with the clutch push in?  I have always read it is possible to overspin the clutch and cause it to seperate/explode.

Dude i know driving it around the block then this confused the flop out of me. The tcase is shifting fine the d line spins when you roll the truck in 2hi then 4low both d lines spin and vise versa blah blah checked that for a while then the tranny shifts fine goes in and out of gear good but with the engine running you can put it in any gear with out the clutch in and nothing, when you put it in 5th pull it out and put it back in 5th it grinds a little but thats the only grinding there is. The clutch is brand new and is still under warranty so well so tonight when i pull it bled it last night and didn't do a thing.

Can you put it in gear without touching the clucth pedal with the truck running?
Will the rear driveline spin with the truck in gear etc..

I broke a welded 4cyl carrier backing outta my driveway once.  Driveline spun but ring gear wasnt touching the pinion...

dropped the tranny last night and clutch seems fine but when i was playing with the tranny out you can spin the rear flange freely and it doesnt move the front flange or the input in the bell housing, then when you spin the input or the front flange it will spin the rear but you can hold it still and everything still spins.. so now i thing something clearly broken but there isnt a single popping clunking grinding noise, nothing. ill split the case when i get off work and find out its seriously confusing the flop out of me.

other than that i just ordered the skid plate from front range, hopefully it gets here and i can figure out my problem i have a bunch of buddies hitting the rubicon memerioal day weekend, usually a yearly trip so ill be bummed if i miss out

Okay i figured it out, it was the rear flange and heres why it wasnt working. The flange that came with the new tcase had smaller d line holes so i swapped it with the old chain driven one, torqured it down and it was all good problem was a 30 spline and the new t case is 27. It got me around the block but when i put in 4 low and started hitting the breaks to try to stallit playing around the nut came loosend up a touch and would just spin freely. stupid mistake but cool that nothing is broken. Drilled the old 27 spline flange out and bam back in business. Gonna order a new flange to have one as a spare but ya stupid stupid stupid haha

It didnt' damage the ouput shaft splines at all?

ok i spent alll last week getting my 4runner ready for the rubicon memorial day and man was it worth it. so many people out there it was an awesome time. Ended up folding the cross memeber ratchet strapped the crap out of it, cracked the t case, and somehow lost all the bolts for the back of the t case where the ring bolts on, blew a rear pinion seal (had a new one so i swapped it) all on soup bowl friday night and then snapped a brake line on the way out lol. Seems like everyone was breaking especially at buck lol all in all killer weekend and ill post pics wheni get home tonight

heading in friday night it was packed on the slabs i should have taken a pic of all the lights pointing everywhere for miles it looked sick









dylan hit a log and put a good size hole in the sidewall and man are those pit bull sidewalls thin lol later at camp he stitched it and 30 plugs and some rtv later it just about held air haha he rolled my spare for the rest of the weekend













so sunday we went out wentworth springs and got there around midnight left my truck there drove to my friend josh's house  in pollock pines to get his trailer since it would be faster than having to get mine all the way in sac, got back to my truck around 3 then got to my house at 6 suuuuch a long night haha

besides breaking the truck did awesome, the new gears are just what i excepted and the mtrs hooked up on the rocks i aired them down to 11 and i seriously love them haha just need a real crossmemeber now and the back half of a t case and i should be back in business not too bad at all

got the new crossmember all painted up now im just waiting on the bomb proof t-case mount to show up and ill have it rollin again. its been hotter than hell i need to get back up the hill and back on the trail lol

Finally got all the parts i needed so i started working on my runner, painted the crossmemeber and the bomb proof t case mount, had to torch off the box brackets i welded onto the frame, i dropped the t case and put a new back half on from when i cracked it last time on the con, tried to snap some good pics

i did have to notch a little v out of the front for the drain plug, there is a hole for the plug but since its a dual case crossmember it doesn't sit back far enough to reach the hole. I just diidnt want to buy a single case crossmember then go to duals later and have to get another one lol

should go wheeling soon so i can test out this crossmember lol i broke a stock one then the last ring one so i really don't wanna go back to ratchet straps lol  :green grin: also getting ready to build my buddy jarrods 82 firstgen it should be bad assss hoping to bang it out within a week heres a little teaser both 82's white one is jarrods blue one is superwill's he's on this forum somewhere and says he's goin tons right off the bat so lets see it willll haha both my best friends
