Hey that elocker have 430 gears? Mine was out of a 4 runner and had 430. Yer housing is identical to mine out of a runner so I figure that's the ratio you got. And if so did that first gen have factory 430 gears I kno some of the first gens had that ratio

Yep. 4.30 gears in the e-locker but the diffs in this first gen are 3.90. I do have another third laying around out of my 80 that is 4.37 so that will go in the front axle for now. Not sure what we are going to do in the future, 4.88 or 5.29.

thinking about frenching these hangers into the frame. my idea is to just recess the hanger into the frame about 1/4" or so. I thought I could plate around the hanger on each side of the frame to add some strength. pretty simple idea. what do you think? any tips or advice before this beotch goes under the knife?

quarter inch would make the plate of the hanger flush with frame that will be smooth.

You may run into a problem with that ruf setup. The leaf pack is too thick you will rub the tie rod on your highsteer. I had a 7 leaf pack and mine rubbed so i had to make adjustments. Also i think the ass end of that thing is gonna be way high if your running just rufs in the front. I run a 5 leaf ruf pack with a 2 inch add a leaf for a 2wd 2008 toyota tacoma. The reason for this is the add a leaf is longer gives the pack some rigidity and a little more height to clear for steering (steering gets tight with rufs) i believe add a leafs for first gens have some crazy spring rate of like 1000 the tacomas are around the 400's i believe so its not extremely stiff but still gives the pack a little more support. Just some thoughts for you. :twocents: The build is comming around very nice tho keep up the good work!!

I have already thought about that but am going to just see what happens and deal with it later. These Marlin rear springs are new and are going to be stiff and definitely have the ass end up in the air a bit. Oh well, I'll deal with w/e comes of it all. For now I just want to keep the progress going but rain is coming so things are going to slow way down for a few days. I wish I had a nice shop. Thanks for all the enthusiasm guys.  :clap2:  :smokin: :qtip:

so these RuffStuff hangers come with a piece to weld in for added strength:

My idea  was to do multiple passes where the hanger meets the frame and over to the gusset, burn :flamer: it in good up each side and then give it a some flap disc love  to smooth it all over and make a nice rock ramp:

And thats what I ended up with. What do you think?
