those heims are sure BLING!

good you got the weld in bungs with the nut shape on the end. i built the steering on my one ton swap in the past with bungs that didnt have those and adjusting the steering only with a pipe wrench chewed up the tie rob and drag link. much cleaner this way.

word of wisdom: dont burn your first pass too hot when welding in the bungs and only do it with the heim threaded in with lots of antisieze. i killed a set of bung threads by going too hot on the root pass when i first did them and the TRE would not thread in after. sucked to have to cut them off and redo the whole link!

What co. Did you get the heims and spacers through? Just curious, I like the shorter spacers for the tierod so there's not as much movement. I need shorter spacers on my tierod.

can you ex plain to us Heim newbs why you swapped the misalignment spacers? i would think the wider based one would be better on the pittman arm side to help keep the bolt in shear and not bending.

HogCanyonHopper

I called ruffstuff. they said to use the safety misalignment spacer against the bolt in case of heim failure. the other misalignment spacer, which is not safety, goes against the arm. its all just to keep the heims captive in the event of failure. the safety washers are used on the tied rod with the 5/8 heims to allow a little wiggle room. pretty simple really

I've seen several folks either tack or bolt that dipstick tube to the conversion mounts to hold it in place.  Might be easier before the motor goes in.

Working on the front axle today. I am using the TG Rock Ring kit. I like this kit because it eliminates the felt, uses a thicker/tougher rubber ring and the retaining rings are thicker than stock. Nice having new hardware too, which the kit comes with.

I was waiting for someone to catch that haha.

FROR Tacoma brake kit requires that you swap the knuckles from side to side. Picking up some wheel bearings today and hopefully have the front axle together.

Here is one of the motor mounts installed:

Put a later style flange on the front:

looks like it is getting there!

what rotors and calipers are you using? i was told that kit can handle all the way up to the tundra calipers and rotors, good sized beef!

Dingman.

I just went back and read about the lack of a plug for the old dipstick hole.. were you able to reuse the one pushed out of the new dipstick location?  I will consider adding this to the kit if not, but I have re-used the ones supplied by Toyota in the new dipstick location.

I'm using calipers and rotors off of the donor truck. 99 Tacoma

I didn't think to save the plug when I knocked it out and have no idea where it is lol!! The plug that comes with the LC kit is like a tiny freeze plug. No biggie. I have the old dipstick in there temporarily :hammerhead:

I don't always get those. Sometimes I grab Wix or Napa Gold (which is made by Wix), but I usually try to grab the Toyota ones.

Heres some front axle progress. One side is done, except for pulling the wheel studs through. Other side should be finished by tomorrow.
