Went up to Gorman yesterday. Had some fun. Did some good wheelin. Made it up some pretty nice obstacles that I have tried many times in the past and never been able to do. Unfortunately people lost faith and stopped filming  ...........  I ended up having to pull mostly every vehicle in the pic out of the mud... Not the crown vic though. My buddy in the trooper sunk it in about 10 minutes of being there and flooded his trans/tcase and diffs with water and was done for the day. towed home.   :smack:

I have not had to add a drop of oil to the 3RZ since I first filled it after dropping it into the bay. That is a very good feeling.  with the 22R I would check it every time I filled up with fuel. Usually had to add about 1/2- 1 full quart every time I checked.. The standard 22R/RE radiator has been working fine for me. IT IS WINTER and has been cold when I have been wheeling, but so far no issues. beating it pretty good in the mud. Very happy with the performance of the motor. All of the worry about having any issues with the swap and t cases have now passed and the hard work is paying off. This swap is well worth it.  The cost of the swap will pay for itself in the cost of fuel alone within a year at most. The difference in power really does make all of the difference when trying to get up and over slippery obstacles or any obstacle for that matter.  Id make it almost a standard at this point to put a 3RZ in any yota I own from here on out and will never waste another penny on a 22R/RE to try and squeeze the power out of it- IN MY OPINION!!!!> It would take more $$$$ than what you could buy a "complete 3RZ swap" for  to make a 22R/RE any where near as potent as the 3RZ...  No offense to the 22R/RE. Its a wonderful tride and true, extremely reliable motor and I  am not knocking it. Its just not something you wanna throw a bunch of money into to try and make it fast. The term, " Beating a dead horse," comes to mind. that's just my  :twocents:...

X2 on that i got the 3rz in my 97 runner and when she hits 3500+ rpms watch out. But the real fun is when the prime rpms shine 4500, allows me to pass V8 on a grade. I really need to just suck it up and finish my swap in my runner. You swap is very clean, i like the detail you put in it. Even more props for it being a 1ST GEN runner  :turtle:

OK. Finally starting on wiring up the tach... I got my instrument cluster from a 2000 toy 4runner 4 cylinder MT. My "Brain" appears to be much different. Im gonna just assume I need that entire bStard in there and rather than splice in any wiring id just use the Tron looking Toyota paper wiring.. haha.. no idea the technical term..

I welded some interlocked chain links to some motor mounts I had laying around and installed them. Has about 1/4inch of movement up and down. I did this to both mounts..
I also plated my frame where the rear shock hangar had ripped off and torn a hole. These are my first welds other than practicing on a chain link 30 mins earlier. I would be really happy if they all looked like the last pic top  right.. Well see how long that bar holds haha.

Yeah. Your truck sits nice. IMO. I think what im gonna have to do is hack off my sliders and rear shock tower and lower my gas tank some more. Ditch the 1" body lift. Thats an inch drop right there. I do not own a welder or really know how to weld for that matter. Thats the only reason i havent jumped on it yet.

Havin some fun learnin to weld. Made a locking ammo can center console and also customized this shifter for my needs. Now I can finally use the shifter and ditch the screwdriver to disengage my crawl box  ;)

Looks like you finally got a welder, congrats! And I'm in the process of putting a turbo on my 3rz. Workin on my manifold then I'll put everything on. I'm guna start off with 4-5 psi of boost with no fuel mods and maybe get a urd maf calibrator if needed. If I can get 50 hp with no fuel mod sill be happy and have that awsome turbo sound. Ill be posting all my progress here soon in the project section. So I got a 95 volvo 850 turbo car for free that's the only reason I decided to turbo my truck. I'm using a td04 turbo with an internal waste gate. The t3/t4 is the one lc engineering recommends for the 3rz with an external waste gate. I'm just using what I got for free plus I ordered a cheap manual boost controller with boost gauge from eBay along with an oil line kit and the flanges I need to build my exhaust manifold. Check out my info and pics when I get it posted and goodluck

Ok so I had everything hooked up with the turbo setup on the 3rz. All was well for the first test drive then the second I started smokin oil out my tailpipe. I rebuilt the turbo before I even started the project but the turbine side had me worried do to journal wear where the oil ring seats plus the turbine shaft was a little bent. Anyway I found another turbo I'm guna pick up and try. I didn't get any good pics before I took it back off but I will when the new one goes on.

UPDATE. I went out and bought everything I thought I had to complete the swap. Ordered the Chilkat oil pan today. Here are some pics showing my progress for today. I got the motor in. :flamer:

A tip when doing this swap: REMOVE THE CLUTCH! this will make everything much easier. also, the bracket that is meant to hold the rubber clutch line to the firewall kind of gets in the way as well. I did NOT hack it off, but it wouldn't e a bad idea to do so.

The red looks sweet!!! :flamer:
