Hey guys,

For those who are missing all of the action, be sure to check out the event coverage from this year's TDS, including the one-day Toyota build up that is going on right now!

11:30AM:

Multiple vendors have all come together to build an ultimate trail ready Toyota all in one day and in front of a live audience.
Check out the nearly hourly progress on the buildup here:
http://www.pirate4x4.com/trailreports/tds_buildup05/index2.html

Also be sure to check out some cool event photos already up:

Including a picture of Marlin doing a Front Wheel Burnout with his New Rear Wheel Disconnect System!

That's right, Marlin has surprised everyone when he unloaded his truck from his trailer yesterday, and just started doing Front Wheel Burn-outs in front of a huge crowd! Everyone was amazed! Marlin has built a complete Toyota gear drive transfercase that can shift from Rear Wheel Drive to All Wheel Drive to Front Wheel Drive, all from a standard twin stick shifter! This is Marlin's first prototype that he built on his lathe with welded shafts and gears. And now that Marlin has proved that it can be done, he will be sending his custom shafts and gears off to his machinist to get the final version ready for retail! This is Marlin's first time testing his newest invention! I don't have any more information on the Rear Disconnect Transfercase right now, so be sure to get your questions ready for Marlin when he returns on Monday!

Actually everyone got to go, but only 6 went: Marlin, Chris, Rocky, Dean, Angelo, and CJ.
Dave, Andy, Tim (TURBO), Jamie, and myself stayed behind.

I hear he has a Baby but I have never seen his baby so I am quite skeptical as to if this "baby" even exists  :ack:

Most of the details are explained in the first link I put above... I don't think it mentions anything about engine work, I think its just a stock EFI 22R-E engine.

I talked to John (desert Toy) when I picked up my chassis ad he was telling me something like $10-$15K in parts alone. That is going to be a cool prize for the winner.

that truck is awesome, they were building it right before your eyes,  very cool! I guess the winner gets to lead the trail run at the jamboree.

Yup IIRC you can buy tickets through March 21st and then the winner has to lead on Wrecking ball. I heard as of Saturday, they had collected a total of $14,000. The goal is $20k so get your tickets.
Those guys did a great job. I'm still surprised that they let Dustin drive it but I'm more surprised that theres not more body work needed before paint since he drove it.  :hahaha:   :ha_ha:  :talkingn:

you can buy as many as you want :D

I made it to the event on Saturday with my twin boys. We made a few contributions to the various clubs for the fight to keep our trails open.  One thing everyone should remember, the ticket sales for the truck will help the cause. The environmental lobby in DC is powerful. The $ raised will help our voices be heard. :)
