For those of you that don't know,Dusy won the BFG Outstanding trail award last year and the money was used to fund the construction of 3 toilets and a 4th one was funded by a trail user. We built them in my back yard in early summer.

Three of the toilets are now gone from by back yard and headed up to Forest Service facilities. We had a crew of 12 show up this morning and knock it out in under 2 and a half hours. One is being left here until the plans are updated for reference. Also the FS has now approved a 2nd site at Thompson Lake to be installed towards the end of October.

No,the $hitty job is moving one when it's full.  :puke: No $hit involved when it's new.

madhunt

The idea is not to let the hole fill all the way up,then dig a new hole next to it and winch the structure over the new hole. Someone will be inside and yell when the toilet is directly over the new hole. Then we fill in the old hole. The $hitty part is dealing with the vent pipes/elbow,they have to be moved to the new location. If it filled up into the riser it would be worse, that's why the Thompson toilet is currently closed.

bleakhorizon

ah.. did not know you were going the open pit route..... makes since.

Here are a few...

Here is our head OHV Ranger driving the Crawler Truck:

I decided I wanted a bigger challenge with the trailer:

At Thompson Lake camp digging the hole for the new toilet

Here is Marlin with Tony and Dave

Starting to assemble things

Here is Burl who is in his 70s and still wheeling his MC01 Marlin Crawler dual case from 1994. I believe he has unit #3, all original and still going strong 18 yrs later!!

and a few more

These are from the pre-existing toilet that was moved:

Here is Marlin helping Ed out :D

Marlin with Scott and his 3.4-Tacoma-powered Double Cab we helped build

Many more pics may be found on our Gallery here: http://www.marlincrawler.com/gallery/2012/oct/2012-thompson-lake-toilet-installs

BigMike,

UFWDA is doing a write up in their online magazine and wants to use 4 of your pictures. I've been trading emails with the editor and he is asking for permission to use the photos and who to credit. UFWDA is partnered with BFG in the outstanding trail program and wants to show their members where the Outstanding Trail money goes.

Thanks

BigMike

Hello Ed,

Thank you for asking. Yes, that won't be a problem. Please give credit to "Marlin Crawler", and let me know if they need the original / higher resolution images.

Thanks!!
