Thanks for all the work with this Ed, it's a great article! Bob and I had no trouble pulling our trailers up Thompson. I didn't realize a rock had to be winched! Wow!

Marmots love to chew through the plywood, and make big holes in some locations.

This trailer is specially modified to haul the toilet floor.

Since the 1/2" allthread broke last year, I upgraded it to 5/8". This is the spare tire mount under the trailer.

I found 5/8" wing nuts, and drilled a hole for a safety wire.

Extra wing nut. Everything is still loose, will adjust and tighten when we get a spare in there.

The prefabbed facility was picked up from the Forest Service work center by one trailer and taken to the trailhead, then it was distributed one wall per trailer.

Volunteers dug a hole half way down and ran into 3 big rocks, then Forest Service showed up and dug a new hole.

Here come all our pics on the latest Toilet Install!

Mallard Lake Toilet Install, Dusy/Ershim Trail
The Four Wheel Drive Club of Fresno assisted the High Sierra Ranger District in installing a toilet at Mallard Lake located on the northern end the Dusy/Ershim trail. Organized and led by the club's Dusy Co-Chair, Marlin, we had more than 20 volunteers help out and assemble another toilet in record time. These toilets are made possible by money and support raised through the 4WD Club of Fresno and BF Goodrich's Outstanding Trail Program. Thank you to everyone who helped out! Marlin was pretty stressed getting everything organized but it turned out great and we had a very successful weekend! Enjoy yet another toilet at your next trail ride of our beloved Dusy/Ershim trail!

Last chance for gas, Shaver Lake 7:30am. Whenever you are running Dusy, even if you're only going in part way like this trip, you always want to carry as much fuel as possible. You never know when someone from out of town has ran out of fuel again on Dusy!

Marlin grabbing last minute supplies in Shaver Lake, CA.

The club built and delivered the floor, walls, and roof sections to the Kokanee work center near Huntington Lake, CA. Here we are picking up the goods!

Here is Brian's JK scooting wide around the top end of the Gate Keeper. From this point you have to make a sharp off-camber right turn that we've seen rigs roll over on. Brian made it through unscathed!

With the broken passenger's rear axle Steve had to do a bit of winching. They decided to continue on to camp with the broken axle as we were only going in just a few miles.

Marlin taking a peaceful walk out to Lake Camp

It is somewhat rare to find the creek coming out of Lake Camp dry. We are definitely in a drought here in central California.

We were hoping to make it to Mallard before lunch but decided to stay and eat lunch at Lake Camp while regrouping.

Climbing up out of Lake Camp, Scott's front right axle starting making a clicking noise that got worse and worse and eventually he had to stop. Come to find out he had a broken stock birfield!
