if its anything like my 76 3/4 ton then put it in 4 low and pull it all the way towards you into 4 hi and then just gently push it forward into 2hi. and let the truck roll slowly while trying this is might make it easier.

or crawl under the truck and find the transfer case shift linkage, it could be bent, broken or just gummed up with crud.

and ya this is a toyota only forum pretty much so maybe go find a chevy forum.

My Dodge used to do this, with heavy pressure on the shifter and rolling a little forward it would pop out. Most tcase are straight cut gears and will get very hard to shift at times.

I agree with rocksufer.    Put some pressure on the TC shifter and bump it in foward and reverse to get it to shift out ,leave the hubs locked(if equipped) until case is out.

If it's a 203 transfer case it could also be the shifter mechanism hanging up. It may need to be cleaned out if it's packed full of dirt and stuff. That's why I asked. I've cleaned my shifter before and it works so smooth afterwards. 8)

chances are you just need to put it reverse and back up while holding pressure on it.  I remember my brother in law's 77 3/4 ton doing this backing up 30 feet or so and it would pop right out
