Well, I paired up my 261 crawler cam with a full rebuild, .040" OS pistons, full MSD ignition and coil, a new Weber, and a pretty wide open exhaust all at the same time, so I can't really say if the cam alone will help too much, but as a whole I have the most peppy 22r that I've ever owned.  Also, be sure your axle gearing is as close to stock as possible for your tire size.  That's the biggest area of power loss, even 31s with stock 4.10 can be a little sluggish.  That's just want to expect with 2.4 whole liters.
