Best thing to do, is grab a FSM and go through the wiring with a volt ohm meter. When I got my 87 22RTE, it wouldn't start. Turn over, but no fire. But I didn't get serious into it, since I was gonna replace the motor anyway. When I ran through the harness with a volt ohm meter, I found the wires going to the coil, had fried, because it ran directly over the exhaust. So, I had a spare harness, and I spliced a longer section up and around the firewall to the coil. So, now I have no wires running over the exhaust at all.
