Its on the engine stand and I am going to do a timing kit on it and a valve cover gasket and adjust the valves first. I am deciding if I should just keep it Carb'd and run it bare bones. anyone know what wires are needed to run it carb'd

Smart idea going through it a bit. I always say im going to do that sort of stuff before i put an engine in and never end up doing it cause im impatient as hell XD. I say just run it carb for now and collect parts for EFI or pane and swap it over once you have everything ready to rock.  No idea on the wires though D:

i have the basically the hole carb manifold. idk if im missing anything but the carb (it had a weber on it and he sold that) id like to stay with an Aisin Carb... i here those are better if tuned. i just need to know what wires run it, hook my gauge sensors up, figure out what fuel lines i have to use or eliminate (or cap off) and run an inline low pressure fuel pump. and then i think im good to go? I like your idea of running bare bones and collect to convert it to efi. 83-87 manifolds from celica, truck and 4runner all fit this head... .WOOHOO! lol so that'll be easy.

So have my 83 22R assembled for mockup, on the engine stand. now its Full Timing Kit, Valve Adjustment, Oil Change, Rear Main Seal, New Aisin Carb and then its ready for install.

Yes thats an 85 Head Cover, I took the 83 off it was gross and i dont like the look of them, has the chevy alternator brackets as well, i took the PS Pump and bracket off as well to get cleaned and painted.

I agree on the valve cover. As far as I can see it looks like mine, less the header.

already have the egr block plates ;] and what does the plug kit do? i was trying to figure that out. and for now ill run a stripped down Aisin Carb.

So you need a stock 22r carb?

Actually I do need a complete carb.

tinkered with my rear springs, took the over off, took the bottom two leafs from a 1st gen Durango rear pack and bolted those under the stock 3 rear springs and bolted the axle back under it with the 4in blocks.

Looks like it will sit much more level now.
Thinking I am just going to drop the engine in in the next couple days. Like "IronClad" I am fkn impatient lol i can do a timing kit with it in the car.

Plugs all of the crap this guy capped off. Allows you to remove it completely and plug it

doin a little rim to fender measuring... i sit at 20in in front with no powertrain shackle mounts or shackles and 17in in the rear. thats roughly 6.5in over stock. GEESH!

Pulled the 4runner out of the backyard and into the front where I had easier access to a flat, hard surface and borrowed my good buddys engine crane again and put the engine in the 4runner. Woohoo!

Now I need to find what exact wiring it takes to run this thing and only the minimal with temp sensor and oil pressure.
then the EFI wiring will be looped and and hung secure under the dash.

that vertical face early valve cover looks kind of funny in a 4Runner
