There were 2 sheriff's in our group and they were target shooting too, as well as the others. but they put up targets, and did not shoot aimlessly . there was a report of poaching,(dear) on the Coyote route,so they were on alert looking for whom ever might have  been hunting off season. All and all it was still a great weekend...

Wonderful to hear responsible use of firearms.  I think the post that started the debate focused around night shooting and not knowing safety issues, etc.  Education and safety goes a long ways.

That was me in the 4runner after the tubed out jeep. Those are the only pics from the weekend I've seen. Played follow the leader with him all over the trail. Hate to say it, but some jeeps get it on.

Is sandy flats a good place to leave a tow rig or even camp? Or is there a nicer camp area that is big enough to park three tow rigs/trailers? I have never been into this area before an will be going this coming weekend. I have maps of the area but nothing that really shows camp sites before the trails.  Thank you in advance.

Sandy flats would be kinda tough to get a trailer into but there's plenty of spots to camp before that, make sure you stop at the ranger station and get a free campfire permit!
See you at the Timberline!

three...ummm best bet is by the corral..but there are others depending on how big the trailers are. but i rather leave it by the corral since your coming back out that way anyways plus there is more room enough for 10plus trailers...

I would go to the sandflats if you are going to camp with your tow rigs. It is a good place to camp because you can get off the road a bit and there is a bathroom. It is a little narrow and rocky to get there but totally doable with a trailer. at the corral there is always a bunch of rigs with trailers parked, it is really dusty and you cant get away from the road.

Yeah don't park next to the corrals. There's no parking and will give tickets.

How bad is the road to sand flats? I tow with a reg cab tundra an a 16 foot trailer, I dont mind a bumpy road, just dont want to beat up my truck an trailer. Id like to be able to have my truck in camp. Are there any areas near the corals that are legal camp sites? thanks for the replys
