I should have clarified, Lonestar Toyota Jamboree in Gilmer Texas.

As far as adjustability, I believe as long as you have some seat sliders the non reclining seats are not bad. I have my seat position set and utilize my tilt column and the seats are very pleasant to ride in. The tilt of the seat is deceiving in the pictures. It is not as bad as it looks.

Burned my clevis mounts on last night and realized bed space is at a premium now. I need to organize it a tad better.

Hadn't checked out your build for awhile.  I liked the bed rack idea and then you throw on a kick ass flat bed..nice

Finally got some wheeling in this past weekend. The 9th Annual Lonestar Toyota Jamboree. I initially wanted to trailer my rig up there but ended up making the 4hr trip each way to Barnwell Mountain on the highway loaded down. In my mind the truck did pretty well. On the Highway right at 17mpg. On the trail it I also was very happy with it. I had an engine problem which I thought was a faulty TPS sensor and ended up being a bad connection on the ingitor/coil assembly. I got that fixed and wheeled for the rest of the weekend.

My caravan

got to do a little FJ recovery for the second year in a row.

A little driveshaft carnage

I followed these guys around the first day and had a blast. Put my truck in some tougher situations than I normally would have.

Great weekend overall!!

I'm going to clean all the red dirt out from this past weekend and check to make sure everything is still tight.

I am a little short on bed space now compared to the truck bed. It's an easy trade off though. More clearance and visibility and less sheet metal to worry about.

I did drive it home with the DS like that. Had a little shake over 65 so I kept it a little under. I had a spare in case it let go :)

Throwing the tube doors on tonight and rechecking fluid levels and re-torquing steering and suspension parts. Hitting up K2 this weekend with some other fellow yota buddies.

That FJ at least kept all the moquitoes at bay for the weekend. It took a while for him to burn all of that oil out

I got in a little wheeling at K2 in mason TX this past weekend. It was a little wet but awesome. This park is probably the best example of rock crawiling in  the state of TX. The whole place is solid Granite. Its about 550mile round trip from Houston and I drove my rig to and from the park.

Scuba Steves freshly SASed 99 Tacoma on Smoking Butthole

Tightening up the steering linkage on Steve's tacoma

Me

Adam a little hung up on King of the Hill

And then on the last day.... Flop City for me

Just fine. Hands in the truck and 4 point harnesses on..

Recovery, spark plug pulling, cycled the engine, added a quart of oil and restart

Just a little damage to the drivers front quarter panel. Nothing major.

Great weekend overall

I have some sheet metal laying around so I thought I might skin my tube tube doors. I started with some cardboard tonight. They are rough cut and the only one that needs to be adjusted a little is the rear most panel by the striker and door latch. Maybe this will keep a little more dirt, water and mud out of the cab. After the flood at K2, Im willing to try anything that will help if Im out wheeling w/o my regular doors.

I thought have the skins on the inside would keep than from getting banged up rather than being on the outside. Also kicking around using some trick tabs or just zapping them to the tube doors. I think welding them directly would be easier and eliminate more rattles and the tabs would look a little cooler.

Any input?

i think you are right on keeping them inside and welding them on. they would not be that hard to plasma right back off if needed to replace. would be a cool place for some speed holes too.

boomtacoma01

Speed holes could be a possibility. The rear section may end up being a piece of perforated metal. I have some time to mess with it for now.

Pulled the truck out to de grease and clean.

Found a missing bolt that I need to replace on my front transfer case mount. No biggie.

Probably going to pull the valve cover and intake for some inspection and cleaning. Probably going to do the EGR delete while I'm at it to eliminate some of the vac lines.

If you relocate your fuel tank you can run that rear axle with a stock housing and your suspension system of choice.

Good choice on axles.

Truck has been at a local shop diagnosing an oil leak and hard starting problem. Turns out my oil pump was toast and my cold start thermoelectric switch was bad. I was told by the mechanic it runs like a dream now. Should be picking it up at the end of this week or early next week. Then I can start taking some measurements for the axle swap and deciding if I want to link it or not. Going to try to wheel it a couple more times before I swap axles.

Got the lower support structure burned in along with adding some more steel. I had to redo a couple of welds that didnt look too secure.

Just waiting on the Arctec fuel cell mounts to show up along with a few misc fittings. I am still looking for a good place to mount my fuel pump. going to ponder that over a few beers tonight. Any suggestions?

Well, I finally got the fuel cell in. It was more work than expected.

Support structure in and painted. I ended up mounting the fuel filter and pump on the back wall of the cab.

Everything in and most importantly the ice chest has a new, easy access home on the truck.

Damn thats a great price!!! I might as well do that for the runner instead of running the factory tank... they hang way too low for my liking!
