I really wanted to bob the bed to still have some usable storage capacity. A buddy bought an 86 ext cab that needed a bed and this bed came up for grabs at the same time.

I always seemed to be getting close to trashing the bed on the trail so I ended up going this route. I will add more tube to slightly enclose it more as soon as I get some tube and more time.

sounds like you are smarter than me, my bed is trashed now from one bad trip that really messed it up. i should have taken it off and went tube before it was smashed, would have been able to get some$$$ for it that way.

I like your desgn, cant wait to see how it turns out!

boomtacoma01

That was another deciding factor. I got some good money for my stock bed in good shape

That bed is badass. Came off another truck or was it a kit of some sort?

boomtacoma01

Its a one off built for a 3rd gen reg cab truck. 2 guys that work at Shrockworks designed and installed it.

Finished up the rear lights and threw the tray on to see how I want to lay out the bed. I think eventually I want to elevate the spare above the bed with clearance to my totes and ice chest.

Looking good. I'm so torn on a tube bed or cutting my bed on my 83. I have a long bed frame but it came with ashort box. Either the way same amount of fab will be needed.

Got tired of staring a my Corbeau Baja SS seats in my garage and decided to get them put in the truck. I used the Chassis Unlimited billet sliders on the driver side for some adjustability. May pick up another set for the passenger side in the future.

Yes the seats are raised up from the OEM position. My homemade seat brackets, the sliders and tabs along with the seats all add up. The sliders themselves are 1.75" tall. There is enough adjustability to move the seats forward enough to be comfortable. My cage prohibits some headroom going to the back of the cab. Thank GOD for the tilt steering column. I am 6' and 250 lbs so the mounts have been place for my size. So, no there is not the same amount of fore to back movement with the seat. The Corbeaus are more comfy though than the stock seats. I added padding to keep from banging my head too much but inevitably it will happen. These mounts are temporary until I cut the stock mounts out and run some tube to lower the seats. The passenger seat is about 2 inches lower but mounted in a fixed position and seems to be in a  pretty comfortable position. Both seats in the truck are just the right width as to not interfere with my twin sticks. The bolts that come with the Corbeau harnesses is also threads into the stock floor seat belt mounts which is a plus.

Hope this helps a little..

Thanks. Should have it all back together this week so I can drive it to work to let the 22re breathe a little before my wheeling trip in May.

I'm 6' 250 and have a 36" waist.
They are comfortable for me.

My suggestion would be so sit in a few different seats and find out which ones fit your body the best.  Maybe some PRP daily drivers or something in that size.

Last nights Progress.

Bed, bed lights, license plate and tool box are mounted. I also added 6 tie downs to the edges of the bed. Just need to clean up some wiring and get my harness bar installed and the red truck should be ready to go.

License plate is low but removable. I may change it up later but it makes me street legal now.

Dove it to work today. Probably drive it all next week as well.

Truck seem to have some pep in the highway now. Apparently the stock bed was a little heavier than the tube bed.

I'm curious how people without adjustable backrests like the comfort of that style.

Hijacking. I cant find anything on the Tinbenders. You mentioned the Jambo is first week in May. I don't see anything on there website. Nice rig by the way. Sweet flatbed and bitchin' seats.
