Clutch suggestions
« on: Oct 11, 2011, 07:25:39 PM »
Anybody have any suggestions on a good clutch to get? Been waiting along time for marlins 1600lb clutch and finally got notice it was in stock. I purchased it Friday yanked my trans and got an email Monday saying sorry there was a mistake they didn't really have it in stock? This was my first attempt at a marlin purchase is this normal? Any help would be appreciated

theyve been revamping alot of their parts lately comming out with bigger and better and stronger.  Alot of stuff has been in and out all summer.  Id just get a parts store clutch for now till they come in.  You cant beat the marlin clutch.  But a parts store clutch should only run ya around a hunderd bucks to hold ya over.  Ikno thats alot of hassel but would be worth it in the end

Hey thanks! I put in to be emailed again and I'm actually pretty patient. But at this point I bought my 4runner six months ago with a junk motor saved some money bought a new engine from LC and haven't been able to do anything waiting on a clutch now the patience is killing me!!!!  I'm all new to this and want to do it right and the marlin clutch was kinda the test buy to see how it goes so far not super so I'm really wondering what am I gonna do for my dual case set up? If I can't get a clutch?  I will be patient and see what happens

BigMike has been changing up some things on the website  and they just had two major events in a short period of time.   I promise you, the wait you have now will make it all worth while.

I bought my Marlin 1200 non ceramic clutch in 2002 and have towed, daily drove, muddin, rock crawlin.  you name it and Ive done it and it still performs like new.  OH, Ive probably got over 30,000 miles or more on it.
I also have Marlin built dual cases and have never had one problem.  even using the crawl box as a splitter like a bigrig.

I pulled that 4runner (my daughters) over 50 miles.  I wouldnt recommend that but I did it.

I'm on my iPhone so I'll keep this short. We are waiting on our manufacture to get our 1600 lb pressure plates in. Another option you can do is run a 9-5/16th Turbo setup on your engine. We sell the larger 9-5/16th flywheels and run 1,800 lb SHD clutches with it, and the great thing is that the larger parts have more material so they will last longer and they are fully compatible / direct replacement conversion for all 5-sod 8-7/8th applications!
