My kiddo says since the last one was Mario that this one will be Luigi. Picked it up last night, along with a pile of receipts. Here's the quick run down on it. My original plan was to build something this winter, but this was a smoking deal for what I bought it for and with my wife about 5 months along now i'm running out of time to get another crawler buit in the garage before our daughter is born.

1986 4runner SR5, Sunroof, power windows, locks, A/C that blows COLD. hahaha

Drivetrain:
- 22re - Cold air intake, LCE header, full 2 1/4" exhaust with flowmaster
- W56 Trans rebuilt by marlin in 2008
- Duals with Marlin Adapter and 4.7's in the rear case, all pro e-brake kit
- Custom high clearance crossmember
- Custom long spline driveshafts
- Front axle out of 85 yota truck: 5.29's, full detroit, DR Smash hydro assist, IFS brake swap, 27 spline longs
- Rear IFS width, 5.29's, Full detroit and some sort of alloy rear shaft.
- 37" MTR's on trail ready beadlocks
- Warn winch

Immediate plans are:
- Fix the valve stem in the front driveside trailready
- Lower it atleast 5"
- Cut the front and rear fenders
- Build a new rear bumper
- Tuck the sliders in a ton on each side.
- Eventually paint it something other than this god awful yellow.

Nice find. Looks like pretty much the same as what I just bought (sounded like you were interested in it too) except the 37s which I wish I had...

Congrats on the new addition, my daughter is 2 weeks old today. It's pretty awesome!

Thanks man, we are stoked. Our son is 9 and we have been trying for a 2nd for a long time. That's what brought me to sell my 88 crawler and but something a little more mild/streetable.

The leaf packs are coming out today and will get rebuilt for a lower stance. Shooting for around 4" lower in the front and maybe somewhere between 3" and 4" lower in the back.

I really thought about buying yours and wanted it bad but it came down to there just wasn't a way to fit a baby seat in the back of an extra cab. So I went back with the 4runner route.

And I agree......the color is horrible. BARF!

Got the monster truck lowered down a ton today. Went from 29.75" at the frame to just a hair over 25" at the frame with 20 psi in the tires. Looks much better. Also ditched that horrible excuse for a rear bumper. Next up, rear fender mods.

Here is the front done, getting ready to pull in for the back .

Here it is with the back done too.

Looks much better

New rig looks good. Your last rig was awesome, can't wait to see what you have in store for this one

What did you do to lower it that much? Did you re-work the spring packs or put different springs  :dunno:

LilChief87

looks sick get some paint on that pig instead of pee yeller :puke:

Sweet truck, looks way better w the leaf swap or ect..
Those wheels are nice also !

GloNDark

It has All Pro springs front and rear. The previous owner had put a HUGE add a leaf in the front, so I removed that and it dropped the front about 5". The rear has what I thought were all pro springs but after tearing them apart are some older Downey lift springs. I took them apart, removed 3 leaves and it's level. I marked the springs thinking eventually the rear would sag and they need to go back in. But time will tell.

I got the inside of it cleaned out. Man what a freaking mess. It's Line-ex'ed inside and it looked like the previous owner had left the back window open for years. It literally had 3" of leaves and mulch in the back. So much in fact that when he was emptying it out he said "Oh sorry for the mess it's all garbage back there" and when I got the window open and the seats out I found a toolbox full of tools, 2 tow straps, a tire iron, bungy cords and a huge first aid kit. hahaha.

Plus the floor looked like it had some oil spilled on it at one point in the back seat area and never wiped up. I took the seats out and used Oil Eater to scrub the floors and hosed it out. Turned out pretty damn nice. I'll try and post some pics tonight.

I've always hated MTR's. I've had bad experiences in the past with them.........and today is just more of the same.

How anyone wheels these POS tires is beyond me.

They sure drove nice on the street but the trade off is just flat out not worth it to me. So now i'm looking for a set of TSL's again.

pumkin toy

damn!  did you rip that open on the trail or did it blow on the highway?  ive been running mtr's for about 6 years and never had a problem... I guess some people have bad luck

I put a good sized gash in it messing around after work. Saw it when I was airing up but it wasn't leaking and seemed ok. I made it about 4 miles before it let loose.

This is my 5th sidewall gash/tire loss with MTR's. I said years ago I'd never have another set............I guess this just drives that point home. hahaha

whats the DOT number on the tire if you dont mind me asking?

Dates were manufactured the 35th week of 2007 according to the date code. A little older but showed no dry cracking or other abnormal issues.

Do you happen to have any idea who made that front bumper? That is exactly the bumper I want to mount my Warn M8000 on my own '85 T4R...
